Even though I would prefer to have a classic Halo game with no gimmicky abilities and pointless mechanics , I would be more ok with spartan abilities if 343 replaced them with the evade ability from Halo Reach , which is pretty much rolling like in Gears of War. You wouldn’t be able to use it in mid air like a thruster pack, but I think the people who don’t like armor abilities in the first place will accept it more if evade took it’s place. Instead of thrusting you would be rolling. Which sounds cooler, dodging a rocket by rolling out of the way, or thrusting out of the way? I would enjoy it a lot more because evade was my favorite ability in Halo Reach . I think it would be a good compromise between the people who like and dislike the armor abilities.
The Thruster evade in Halo 5 already supplants the Evade ability from Reach. It’s pointless to have two things that function in the same manner.

I’m saying that we could have the evade ability from Halo Reach replace the thruster evade ability from Halo 5 in the next Halo if 343 absolutely mist have some sort of ability of that sort in the game. I’m not saying to have both of them at once, that would be pointless.

Well, the ability from Halo Reach covers a long distance and it has a lot quicker refresh time. I don’t like abilities either , but if the next Halo did have them, I would prefer for it to be the evade ability from Halo Reach.

I actually really love the new abilities. I like to play up close and I use Boxer and these abilities are so much fun for me because they’re all meleecentric, if you will.

I’d rather Halo games not have thrusters or any kind of abilities ,but if it comes down to it I’d rather have evade than thrusters. They are a lot more fun to use than thrusters, and it didn’t make it that much harder in Halo Reach.

You haven’t had to deal with really good Sangheili players in Invasion, have you. Try sinking a headshot on one of them and tell me how much harder it is.
Me, I’ll take the ability to fly in a certain direction and crush my goes beneath my shoulder.

Well I’m really good at invasion when it comes to elites, and I’ve had to deal with good players too. It’s not impossible, and it’s way less annoying than people flying all over the place with thrusters. Not to mention, it’s a lot easier to deal with.
the thruster is essentially an upgraded evade. you arent just stuck on the ground, its much more dynamic. why move backwards?

I beg to differ, but I think I’ll leave that discussion for a different thread, a different day.
I have great alternatives for the Spartan abilities:
Replace sprint with fast base movement
Replace thrust with responsive strafe
Replace clamber with normal jumping
Replace spartan charge with normal melee

Well that’s the best option, but 343 doesn’t like fixing their games for the better and to appeal to the majority , which is why I made this post.
Thrusters need a rework.
While being on the ground you’d have Reach Elite Evade. Or something similar, like somewhat slowed down after getting up for an instance
While in the Air you’d have thrusters that add to your Vector. Meaning the thrusters would apply a force to you changing your momentum according to how much force is applied.
Simple example:
You’re in the air and you thrust straight right.
Instead of going straight to the right, the force of the thrusters change your direction towards the right. If both forces were equal, your new direction would be 45 degrees to the right relative to your original direction.
Or was that simple enough?
