ammo crates in multiplayer

I’ve had this idea for a while now: What if Halo 4 implemented ammo crates similar to those in firefight to be placed in team bases. These ammo crates would only resupply ammo to starting weapons, as to not give players with power weapons an unlimited amount of ammo. I know there’s been plenty of times where I’m on a large streak, picking people off from afar on a cliff or something, and I run out of ammo, forcing me to run out and try to scavenge any kind of weapon I can find - most of the time getting me killed. I feel like having a place for players to refill on BR/DMR/Assault Rifle ammo would only serve to improve gameplay tactics and wouldn’t give any unfair advantages.

Thoughts?

that would be cool plus it would make the base feel like a base

Not a bad idea, but I prefer when I can’t find ammo to use another weapon. Makes you work for your kills and all that rather than use a weapon you are dominating with.

That’s a good reason not to have them. You could just camp in the base and keep refilling your ammo. At least you have to move around and be careful about what’s going on around you if you run out of ammo. To be honest I love the feeling of having to run around and be sneaky because I’m out of ammo.

I’d love to see them in Forge though.

But…then people can camp the ammo crate…and never run out of ammo.

There is ammo for starting weapons on every dead body.

Maybe this should only be for large maps and Big Team games. I’m imagining this implemented into a map like Hemorrhage/Blood Gulch where the map is extremely large and there’s not much worth camping with a DMR in the bases. Can’t tell you how many times I’m up on the sniper ledge and I run out of ammo, where I then have to run all around the map looking for ammo. Having ammo in the bases during BTB games would just be another option for the people who don’t want to run out in the open fields looking for dead bodies.

Most big team maps aren’t that campable to begin with, and if they are, you’re centainly not going to be killing many people from long range. There’s going to be campers in the base with snipers/other power weapons anyway, and there’s plenty of ways to deal with campers regardless. I don’t think this will encourage much more camping than there already is. Just my thoughts, but I see what you all are saying.
