We need Halo CE level ammo in Halo Infinite

Yes, definitely. The ammo levels you get in H5 while using Patrol Case should be the norm.

Do you mean as it pertains to multiplayer or campaign or both?

Multiplayer there is so much action and death that ammo seems plentiful with the exception of heavy weapons.

Campaign i kind of like the idea of lower ammo. It honestly keeps the player honest and gives those moments of “I need a weapon”. making the user choose his shots and which weapon to use in a particular case (enemy dependent).

CE’s the most enemy dependant weapon game there is and it has the most ammo.

Meanwhile halo 2 has the scarcest ammo and I feel like I don’t care what gun I use because it doesnt have enough ammo to properly kill enough of the enemies it should be good against.

I understand…and totally agree with the ammo count in H2. I normally play on Legendary so I do enjoy the difficulties.

A higher ammo capacity would be nice, perhaps that’s what those rewards from those side objectives will give for completing them. Not sure how 343 will implement them.

I completely agree, it doesn’t make sense for a spartan to only be able to carry 4 pistol mags. You’re telling me that ONI invested billions of dollars into the spartan program and Mjolnir armor, but forgot to put any real ammo storage on it? The AR used to have a max ammo count of 600, it was like 200 in halo 5. It’s absurd how low ammo count really is in the later games, and while its cool to have the whole “pick your shots and be strategic” thing, that doesn’t really work when most of the weapons have a max ammo count of 3 and it takes 5 shots to kill the enemy. It turns the game from picking the best weapon available to deal with specific enemies to picking whatever the closest gun is and hoping it can do the job. I enjoy strategizing with weapon choices, if I know I’m going to fight brutes in Reach, I’m going to try to find a needle rifle because it counters them the best. It’s not as fun to be trying to use a suppressor to fight knights because its the only thing that had ammo nearby.

100% agreed. I play Halo to enjoy a fast paced action game not scrounge around for ammo. And based on how quickly the new plasma carbine chewed through its meager battery power I am really concerned about the ammo situation again and 343 Halo games have been historically stingy when it comes to ammo.

Giving players CE levels of ammo/battery wouldn’t make the game any easier, it would just allow players to make actual choices about which weapons they want to use rather than simply using whatever the most common weapon type is. Finding more powerful weapons isn’t even particularly exciting when you pick up a rocket launcher with 6 total shots to use against large swarms weak enemies as well as significantly more tanky enemies. In CE when you find a rocket launcher or sniper, you actually get to enjoy using it for a decent length of time.

I prefer a large weapon sandbox so I can choose what weapon or weapon combination I want to hold on to and master and would prefer it if I could reliably find ammo for those guns when I need it.

I cannot stand how ammo was handled from 2 onwards. Nothing worse than wanting to hold on to even simple weapons like Assault Rifles when the ammo keeps running out–and when it comes to more powerful weapons it’s even worse as my second weapon slot just becomes a place for me to hold onto a sniper/shotgun/rocket launcher until a situation calls for it. Hate it.

Would love to see Infinite tear a page out of SPV3 and provide Covenant/Banished battery rechargers for the plasma weapons.

It’s really gonna depend IMO. Like are we gonna be dealing with long stretches of gameplay with little ammo or weapons to pick up in between? Because too much ammo might lead to special weapons on the map being ignored, while too little ammo means the player will get frustrated with being stuck with whatever they can scrounge up on the field. I’d prefer more if I had to choose, but I hope 343 can find a balance so the weapons scattered about the landscape can still be of value.

…and there should be, like in CE, some dead marines along the way where you can pick up new ammo. AND Chief must be able to pick up an empty weapon! AND he should throw the weapon forward when picking up a new weapon to move it forward by picking up and throw and so on… That would be awesome!

Gameplay is at its best in halo when there is meaningful choices to be made. The amount of ammo we could hold in CE allowed us to create an incredibly diverse way of playing through most levels. Because we could hold so much ammo I can play through a decent section of a level with a rocket launcher as my ranged weapon and a shotgun as my close quarters weapon. We can’t do that anymore because we get like 4 shots for the rockets which gives us minimal ranged coverage. Plasma weapons are especially laughable now. Covenant rifles are out of battery after 3 kills with it. It makes you wonder how the war wasn’t in humanities favor, if all they had to do was make the covenant miss twice and they’re out of ammo.
