American obvious advantage over AUS

Im Australian (and proud of it) but we’re getting shafted consistently in online matchmaking… It is absolutely ridiculous how obvious the advantage of having an American Internet connection is.
This needs to be evened out somehow, because lagging around in matchmaking is quickly getting old… And loosing to Americans that’s arn’t as good as you just because they have an advantage is also quite demotivating.
Come on, make it even for all players…fair go.
Cheers.

Hey, I have to deal with crappy Australian hosts too you know. EVERYONE is being affected by this, stop being an ignorant jerk and actually read some threads once and a while.

Haha hater.

> Haha hater.

How am I being a “hater”? I’m enthralled as to why you think I am one even though I said that everyone is being affected by this, not just you.

I’m an Australian too, OP, but you’re honestly being ignorant.

Everyone suffers from lag, Aussie or American host. If you want to host more or lag less, move to an internet provider that actually offers decent speeds. Only you can make improvements to your situation, not 343.

I’m currently on 20mbps down and 0.5mbps up. I could upgrade to a max 100mbps down and 3mbps up, but I can’t afford it. Do I complain about lag? Yes. Can I do something about it? Not in my current financial situation.

Either put up with it, improve your current circumstances, or don’t, simple as that.

It’s all relative. Most players must be American or British, thus most hosts are American or British. I agree they need a “Good Connections” search, but the point EChondo was making is that everyone gets crappy hosts sometimes. Try to get more Australians to play ;).

Oh woe is you, getting sauced by one of us Americans ?

The horror!

You can only improve by moving to an area under the NBN (National Broadband Network) where you will have speeds of up to 1Gbps or pull host and even then it wont matter as its a peer to peer hosted game.

And your statement of upgrading to 100mbps is what i am on and that is MAX BANDWIDTH my speed is 25-30mbps down and 5-10mbps up, i dont as bad as others when playing against americans and europeans but its still bad. Mainstream american speed is 300mb bandwidth not a lot 343i can do about that even with a “good connection” as some australians have a connection that i could better by thethering my iphone to my xbox! Some of the worst connection games i played on reach were on custom connection with a lobby full of australians.

Good response to a valid argument bk.

The host is determined by the best connection to the Halo 4 servers, not to the majority of players like it used to be. So if there is 1 american verse as many and any other regions, they will get host and others will lag is all he meant

Wait, WHAT!? I WISH I could get THAT kind of speed. 300Mb is nowhere near what most Americans have today, which is really 20Mb down and 5Mb up if you’re lucky and can afford $100 a month! It’s either that or 5Mb down and around 768Kb up!

Hopefully Google Fiber can help rescue us from our corrupt ISP system! Europe is the place to be for Internet in this day and age…

I’m in the UK and best I can get is 4Mb down and 600Kb up. Nothing I can do as it is a hardware/distance issue.

Quite a bit of the UK is still stuck with these speeds (or worse) unless you live in a larger city.

Friends locally (literally 1/2 mile away) are stuck with 1.5Mb down so I count myself lucky…

Haha just relax you serious kiddlets.
I asked a question i wanted an answer to, For those who gave a fair answer I thank you
I apologize if I came across as arrogant @ EChondo, I just don’t appreciate being called a jerk buy a bloke who wouldn’t know me from a grain of sand.

i’m in the uk and have the same problem

my game time is later in the evening to night time which is nothing but american time >.>’

Yeah, I’m an American and I have laggy online matches. No need to be rude and assume it’s everyone’s problem but your own.

True that, didn’t even think of trying to play when Americans should be sleeping

No need mate. Not for a second did I consider I was the only one having the problem, I was just looking for an answer.

Looks like this was posted twice, so I’m going to lock this one.
