I’ve noticed that ambient life is always something that Bungie and later 343i always have tried to put in the Halo games but always ends up the first things on the cutting room floor when the deadline gets closer.
Since the first Halo game and every one since beasts such as the “Space jellyfish”, the “Blind wolf” or “Doberman gator” were thought of at one time in devolpment and cut out later on.
Even the latest entry in the series by 343i Halo 4 saw many unfortunate cuts, some of them being ambient life. Take a look at the “flying squid” and the “Sky Leviathan” both creatures were to appear in the game as ambient life at one point but were cut, ether do to time constraints, lack of memory or both. Which is a shame as they would have added a sense of surreal strangeness to the alien world of Requiem. Something which many of the recent games have been lacking.
Now with the next installment on a new, more powerful console the Xbox One, and many of the issues Halo 4 had were due to lack of memory(Remember Halo 4 had to be shipped on TWO discs which were both jam packed) would you like to see some ambient life wherever John-117 may be? If 343i steps out of the safe zone and adds something more alien like a sky whale or even bizarre, non-traditional forerunner weaponry to go with it would you like to see that?
I want the Space Squirrel and Space Porcupine. May as well get Space Bears and Space Dragons while we’re at it and create a hunting minigame. Seriously, I’d be willing to pay extra to hunt Space Bears & Dragons in Action Sack.
Some of these were Covenant Species, but they’re alien enough to be ambient life. Halo games capture the feeling of mystery and awe with impossible architecture. I don’t think I’m alone when saying that it’s getting sort of stale.
Adding strange ambient life would be incredible and add lots of awe to Halo 5.

I couldn’t agree more… as much as I loved the scenery and buildings/terrain it is really lacks the awe that we saw in Halo Ce (Halo 04A, Index)[Huge Awe], Halo 2 (Halo 05, Gravemind)[Huge Awe] and Halo 3 (Ark, Halo 04B)[Huge Awe], even Halo: Reach (Planet Reach)[Low Awe], Halo 4 (Shield World, Cryptum, Didact)[Huge Awe]. The only ambient life I or probably anyone has seen, is the Moa and Guta which added awe and strangely familiarity, thus making us believe this is a alien planet/installation/world.
