Amazing idea for forge mode that 343 shouldn't ignore!

Forge mode is in the near future and I’m sure 343 is working hard on brand new maps for playlists current and likely to come. Based on previous game titles, they’ve shown to occasionally use player-made maps for some of their playlists as well which opened up many potential (and often very well made/layed out) maps for play. This was also true for bungie back in reach days though i don’t quite remember if they did for halo 3 or not. But 1 thing halo reach did very well that we never did see again was a large scale map for building. This map was simply called forge world. It was a very smart move making such a large scale map for building with several areas completely versatile for building making every area unique or at least providing adequate space to create enclosed spaces for maps that were all different. Though we never saw that again. However 343 making a large scale map for building is very unlikely since they never did so in halo 4 or 5. It might also be costly for budget and time to create so they won’t do so. They’re already spending so much time and money on making new smaller maps. Which is fine. But this is where the idea comes in. They already have a big map they could use for just this sort of thing. A huge map. 1 way bigger than forge world back in halo reach. Zeta halo.

So here’s my idea. The campaign has a huge open world filled with heavy diversity in scenery, layout, design, and tons of open space. Zeta halo is a forge map builders dream place. So many areas could become amazing forge map locations. Bases, fortresses, large plains of space. As well as a day night cycle already implemented. The entire game’s map is available and just sitting there! Not many people are likely to go back to campaign just for the visual and most are too preoccupied with objectives/combat to really appreciate the world itself. The entirety of zeta halo is a playground for map ideas and locations! With a huge sky box limited for making very large scale maps! And the best part is 343 would have to put in very little effort on their side to make this possible because its already made so all they would have to do ia make the campaign world capable of being used for forge mode!

-Here’s how this idea would work.

•First make zeta halo forge compatible.

•Players can move around the entirety of zeta halo without restrictions so they can chose any location (and possibly >locations< for the audacious, just a thought) to build their map. To prevent accidental spoilers for those that have not played the campaign, they could put a restriction on using this world for building until they’ve played the campaign. Or place a warning before loading the world that spoilers might occur.

•Players have to build a zone that will mark the actual location for building in zeta halo. This zone would be built the same way builders make a kill/soft kill boundary that is only visible in forge mode. This was already done in halo 5 to mark where the map actually is for play. Aka a safe zone. Every area outside of this zone will tell a player to return to the zone or they die.

•Allow the player to make the sky box as tall as the already preexisting sky box limit in the campaign to allow for freedom of map design and intent for gameplay based on builders choice. (The extremely low sky box limit on current maps is way too low and was very heavily limiting on forge mode for previous titles like halo 5)

•And for the last bit allow the player to make the zone much larger than currently existing big team battle maps. About as large as the same size forge world was in halo reach. (Due to server limitations anything bigger probably would not be recommended.) But making them about that big is necessary for providing the best possible layout for map designs and even providing the opportunity for 343 to make new playlist ideas which I’ll list below.

This would save 343 a lot of time and money on making new maps. simply using the assets they already have by selecting areas on zeta halo for maps locations. This way more maps can come to current playlists much faster and by allowing a bigger space, 343 could make a playlist for bigger teams than big team battle. Such as 12 vs 12 or 15 vs 15. There’s so much potential in this idea that could be groundbreaking for multi-player in the future and the best part is 343 would have to do very little to make it happen in comparison to building new maps from the ground up. They could even have this available by the time forge is due to release.

That sounds hella heavy on your system

That’s why the player would have to select the zone for building before they can do anything else. The world would only be loaded the same way it normally would for campaign. Then the player can only move around the map until the build zone is selected. From there the world would only have to load the selected area and the distance around it. All nonessential objects like weapons, vehicles, etc that are not a physical part of the map would not be loaded

Still sounds pretty heavy.
Forge should be accessible to all people

To my knowledge i was told forge mode will only be accessible to those that own the game. Individuals that are using the free to play multi-player will not have access to forge mode. But perhaps they can reduce the stress it might have by separating the map of zeta halo into quadrants? So only 1/4th of the map is generated for exploration before loading? They could even make it a bit smaller by generating a specific region at a time. Similar to fast travel in campaign with the different regions being your fast travel point

Where did you hear that?
Besides, what does that have to do with how heavy it is?

A buddy of mine that watches halo forums. But it would make sense. Since anything outside of playing multi-player games would require owning the game. But you had said forge mode should be accessible to all people. I was just replying to your comment. But still there’s a lot of potential for using zeta halo for future forge. If they do decide to do so im sure they’ll find a way to accommodate for it being heavy or stressful on systems and servers. Just something they should definitely consider looking into

Well forge is coming in November now so I wouldn’t be calling that near future thats just next year lets be honest.

Maps are usually released a month after the game comes out based on past titles and its been three wouldn’t get my hopes up with everything going on maps will probably come next season and probably only be added as seasons come out unfortunately

Sadly that will probably be the case. But who knows. Hopefully we might see at least some iteration of it.

The Campaign map sucks. I wouldn’t want to build on that. Give me Flat World, Reach Forge World, and Halo 4 Forge Islands, and that’ll be good enough for now.

Pretty sure we are only getting Flat World, so no beaches, water, or anything special, for a few years probably. Just flat flatness and big rocks to make mountains to hide the flat dull background

Even campaign only has one lake, and it’s out of bounds. I don’t 343 figured out water physics yet.

343 should have made Forge World like Modnation Racers, where you can raise and lower areas of the map to make mountains or oceans

This Next Gen Console/PC title is going to get outdone by Xbox 360 and PS3 yet again, unless their Forge beats Halo 5 Forge by leagues, and I honestly don’t have my fingers crossed on that

I watch the forums as well and have seen nothing of the sort

Halo has always been about hope I’m with you there

If you need to own the game to play forge it will be dead on launch a lot of people don’t have game pass and didn’t pay for the campaign. Meaning they would have to pay real money to have access to forge.
