I don’t know about you, but I’m not a fan of getting stomped by tournament level players every single game. I’m not that bad, I have a ~2:1 K/D ratio in most Halo games. But the people I’m up against either have -Yoink!- or have been to tournaments. Or both. And it’s not a rare thing to go up against these freaks. I get them every game.
It sucks. I just want to play against people I can actually compete with because I love this game. The fast paced action and the graphics never cease to blow my mind. I just can’t really enjoy it when I’m getting viciously stomped by no-lifers.

It takes some time for people to get any sort of skill data to be matched up. In the beginning everyone has no games played, so the system has no clue if they are good or bad. If in a month it’s the same, then I will be complaining, but give it some time.
I do think MM is broken with the join in progress, but that’s a different issue.

A lot of people feel the same way. My very first game was against a team who had absolutely no idea what they were doing and I almost earned a perfection because of it. Then my next six games were against coordinated parties and/or people who were roflstomping everyone. It was absurd.
Relax, we are only at day 2 mark post release. At this time you tend to run into 1) strong players; 2) players who have been playing H4 24/7 after release and hitting XP cap every day.
I believe that by this weekend you’ll have a lot more noob players (and non-noob but mediocre players like me) to pwn, and not to mention Christmas noobs in a month…
Here’s the thing. In Reach, I rarely had a bad game. I could go +10 to +20 on a regular basis getting sprees galore. Reach was a breeze for me as a player.
When I first stepped into Halo 4, I thought it would be the same. But it wasn’t I quickly got stomped and quickly learnt my lesson. I was conditioned from Reach to play a certain way. This is why I got stomped so quickly.
I then started playing differently, more cautiously, more smart, less Reach-like.
Maybe you too are playing a way that’s familiar to you, but shouldn’t be.
Main factor in getting stomped for me is getting into encounter I cannot win. 2v1 is a death sentence. Even with overshield, it’s hard to pull off. If you’re not traveling with a team, watch that radar to find out who’s coming and if you can risk taking them on.
Other than that, find a playlist you really enjoy.
I loved BTB in Halo 3, hated it in Halo: Reach, I enjoy it in Halo 4. So something you’re neglecting because of old behaviours, old preferences… DON’T! Try everything out.
It’s not the matchmaking, it’s your style of mind. That and/or the opposite team is actually working as a team. Usually when this happens I get stomped, even if I could take each of them on a 1v1 scenario.

the skill thing can be a good and bad thing tbh, good because you won’t just be matched up against MLG pubstompers all the time if your just starting out or are half decent but not considered good.
bad because the MLG pubstompers can just purposely just lose their skill level to play against the people that suck for youtube footage, trolling, etc
I’m going to have to agree with the OP here. I thought I’d give it a few weeks to see if things changed up but they’ve got worse if anything. The balance that every Halo game has worked so hard to achieve has been thrown right out the window for this fast paced, almost COD-clone. I know that phrase is overused and I disagreed with it when people first started throwing it around in reference to the multiplayer on this game, but it truly is.
The maps are absolutely dreadful and don’t cater to any specific gametype, the loadout option completely throws out what has been in the Halo games for so long - that rush for weapons at the start, everyone being pretty much on equal grounds as far as equipment is concerned - leaving skill to take charge, and the ability to call for weapons, power ups, etc during a slayer match completely throws the balance out the window. I can see the reasons why they put it in there; the ability to acquire weapons/power ups on the fly, and possibly turning the tables on a winning-enemy team - but it’s exactly this that means a losing team would actually inevitably lose - the fact that a winning team are winning because they’re getting kills, means that they’re getting all the better weapons and upgrades, furthering their team to the top end of the scoreboard.
The additions and changes also increase the pacing to the game. But that’s exactly what makes it a ‘COD-clone’. You could argue that games themselves are becoming more fast paced as that’s what people these days want, but to that i say Pipe down. That’s what COD players want. Running into a battle mindlessly because you pretty much know you’re going to die is not what Halo is built on. Like OP, I’ve got a lot of love for the halo series, i’ve been playing the multiplayer extensively since Halo 2 so i know what im talking about here. Halo 4’s matchmaking has changed the game and experience for the worse, in my opinion. The fast paced all-action that it’s become sucks the sack and I’d love for people to see my reasoning before slating this comment for all it’s worth. If you’re a fan of fast pace action, i’ve no problem with that. All I’m saying is that Halo’s not one of the most played multiplayer games of all time because it takes ideas and gameplay from other games. It’s because it’s unique. And although i know full well Halo’s a pretty freeking unique game, there’s no denying that the carefully perfected formula that’s made Halo what it is has been altered, and has changed the experience of an online match as a whole. I’ve actually yet to meet a hardcore halo fan that feels these changes are for the better.
For the record though, the spartan ops and campaign are absolutely incredible. Thought I’d point that out.
