Am I wrong about being able to play Halo 5 today?

I got the limited collector’s edition with the Locke and Chief statue, and I got the game downloaded and installed, and everyone I’ve talked to and all the stuff I’ve seen said I could play it today but the game is locked on my Xbox… was I wrong in thinking that you could play today? Do I still have to wait until next week?

You just get to pre-install the game

Yes you still have to wait. They never said you would have access to “play” the game 1 week early. Only access to download the game a week early.

sigh I’m ok with that, I just wish that the people at the store had better information. >_< I figured that was it but I wanted to make sure it wasn’t me or my game messing something up.

It just means you are all set to play right at midnight. You won’t have to worry about installing your game. (Maybe only a patch)

with the LCE and console bundle, you can only pre-download the game and day one update patch to get ready for October 27.

Until just a few days ago I didn’t even know I could get it early so I’m still happy lol

But I guess it’s my fault for expecting GameStop to have their info right…

Those would be people who have either gotten promotional copies or people who were mistakenly sent a physical disc early

I was told the other day by a friend it would be playable today, though I knew better than that. Wonder where this misinformation is coming from. Would have been a sweet perk to get people to buy the collector’s edition if they made that one open a week early (cough343cough coughHalo 6cough)

I feel like if it DOES work you’d be risking a lot if you connected your console again.

It doesn’t work. There is a small activation file for digital copies of any game that doesn’t go out until launch time to prevent people from doing that.

What annoys me the most is the twitch H5 live campaign streams that are going on right now …
All of them are from Europe, and all of them look/sound legit …
How come they can do that or haven’t been stopped yet? …
(Ps. That’s why I was wondering whether the game was playable today or not - not that I’m anywhere NEAR done with the download, but yeah xD)

Also … Just to get my facts straight … Monday the 26th, 23:59:59 (/midnight Tuesday 27th) is when the game should become available, right?
