I can’t be the only one that isn’t happy about the way 343 designed the Mark V armor for Halo 5 right? I know this will sound nit picky and inb4 the defense force comes in yelling at me for criticizing an armor set that hasn’t come out yet, but I feel this must be said.
As we all know the January update is going to include the Mark V armor set, my favorite armor set in all of Halo, and I was excited until I saw this video.
What the hell is with the helmet? Why does it look so fugly? That’s not even getting into the whole inaccuracies to the original model from Halo CE which is clearly what the artists at 343 were basing the set off of, but that isn’t so much my problem as the main two gripes I have with the set are: the helmet and the shoulder pads.
The helmet is so ugly looking to me. From the front it looks fine, but from the side it looks deformed. The over hanging cap part of the helmet is too short and I feel needs to be lengthened. The back of the helmet looks too round and needs to be thinned out some. Finally, the visor needs to get rid of those little carvings, the Halo 4 version didn’t have them and neither should this one, and the 4 version looked fine.
The shoulder pads would look fine if they weren’t so damn large. The ones in 4 looked a tad too small and the ones here look like they were just ripped off of the Mark IV set. Maybe shrink them down a bit or just use the ones from Halo 4 and enlargen them a tad.
All in all, this isn’t a deal breaker for me as it’s just one set out of hundreds with countless more to come, but I can’t help but feel disappointed that they didn’t make my favorite armor set and probably the most iconic armor set in all of Halo the best it could be. This is really nitpicking at this point, I know, but this is just something I’m frustrated about at the moment and need a place to vent. Feel free to disagree, but this is obviously my opinion, so no hate in your replies please.

Doesn’t look like the MK V that I remember. Though I kinda dig the body Armor. Helmet is less than desirable for me, though.
Mark IV looks basically how Mark V has in the last few games, I’m not that mad.
Honestly I kinda like the OLD OLD Mark V look we’re getting next.

I’d be fine with an imported anniversary version if they changed the chest plate a little and the size of the shoulder pads a tad. Those are my only gripes with that version especially the version of that used in Halo 4.

True, it doesn’t look sharp, but isn’t clunky with attachments…needs work but can be fixed.

It’s ok dude, I didn’t expect anyone to really read my novel of a post, lol. I agree with you except for the helmet. Shoulder pads aside, the body armor looks great (can’t really judge the chest plate yet as we didin’t get a good look at it), but the helmet just irks me. I have no idea why they couldn’t just use the Mark V helmet from Halo 4 or even the Reach version if they wanted a Mark V that looked distinguishable from the Mark IV set.
YES! Body armor looks pretty great, but that helmet is too blocky and the brim is too short!
I really can’t say because it’s hard to see the armor details with the super short video.
Looks fine, I just wear Mark VI so I could care less
