It’s already rumored that they are doing a BR type play mode. There has been ZERO information or rumors even about firefight, so I don’t know how you can even have hope of even soon at the moment to be honest.
I still play Halo for the campaign and PvE almost exclusively. I had my fill of Halo PvP back in the Halo 3 days. That’s not to say I think PvP shouldn’t exist, but I do want something that will appeal to people like me.
I really like Firefight and want to see it return to how it was in ODST, where it’s more about survival on your own or as a team, and not just getting a higher score than everyone else. What I also want to see, is more objective modes against the AI, similar to the co-op mode in Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2017). Other gametypes on larger, custom, PvE-focused maps. Something to mix it up a little.
It all gets very confusing.
The CA offshoot has been pinned as both a Battle Royale and a PvE mode.
Fingers crossed we’ll get some more info leading into Season 3.

We know of THREE avenues of PvE;
Extraction:
PvE generator defence/objective style mode where in which you fight the Banished on dev maps.
Forgeable Campaign AI:
In the latest Forge Q&A, its stated that this is being worked on.

Apparently a portion of this mode will be PvE. Don’t know much else.
We may get firefight down the line yet. Michael Schorr, head of the forge team at 343, said it was possible to bring campaign bots in the Forge but it won’t be ready at launch. If that’s true it’s very possible we’ll get some sort of PvE mode sometime in the future.
With the Infinite Storyline, Firefight makes just as much sense as ODST’s and Reach in the lore. In Infinite as in the aforementioned previous titles. All the Spartans that made it down to Zeta Halo once the Infinity was destroyed were all in Survival mode trying to hold out and regroup against the Banished forces. This was a missed opportunity to have a Firefight/Story tell the tale of Lasky, Palmer, Halsey, Osiris, and even Crimson or Majestic team. At least they could have wrapped up their stories on screen.
i miss the Warzone from halo 5 a lot since i have play it a lot off time’s since it was much and much fun then any normale playlist in the matchmaking.
sure the halo 5 warzone also some bad points but it was fun.
the warzone firefight in halo was the best off all the firefight versions.
i hope its coming back both off then in a new setting.
You might get flamed for this, but I completely agree. WZFF is a phenomenal concept, and more than likely would’ve been better-received if the REQ system didn’t involve microtransactions.
Given the statement about bots and campaign ai. It will be up to us to create FF maps in the future. Bet on it.
Personally I loved Spartan ops. I saw it’s potential if done another way. I call it Fire ops.
It has 3 modes.
2 can be played in private
1 Fire ops Excursion: 4-8 players roam an open segment completing objectives that scale the difficulty as you progress before a final assault (boss fight) at the fortress/whatever. Players can extract anytime at the spawn post
2 Fire Ops Assault: 4 player direct assault on the fortress (few waves then a boss fight) most skulls on mythic on weekends.
3 Fire ops Defense: Hold out a place of interest till help arrives or theres no more bodies left to throw at your feet. Classic FF. 4-8 players.
Fire fight deserves to feel like you Spartan isn’t just holding a place down till you die. Even zombies has an extract now. We’re trained Spartans. Let us be deployed.
I miss Firefight immensely. That’s the main reason as to why I still haven’t spent a single cent to support this game with the exception of the Season 1 MP Pass. With the amount of money that they burned away during the development of a fundamentally broken and poorly coded engine, we should’ve had Firefight and Forge on release. Can you imagine that absolute disaster that Infinite would’ve been if Joseph Staten hadn’t convinced Microsoft to delay release for a whole year?

for me is the halo 5 version of the firefight the best there is.
the only thing i not like is the REQ system.
same with the basic warzone in halo 5 with 12 vs 12 i like a lot and wane see return in a new setting without the REQ system.
I very much miss firefight. Heck I hate the fact we don’t have something like warzone. I wish we had more PvE.
I went back to H5 Firefight this weekend and had a blast. I gave Infinite a year. It just does not work for me. I got fired up and spent in the store, did the passes and events, thinking PvE would come. I wanted to build a collection to have looks for my MP spartan. At some point, you have to decide if it is worth it to keep waiting. I reached my limit.
Lesson learned is to make sure you like the game before you put too much time and money into it.
if they don’t fix this no FFA and no bot mode playlist in 2 weeks, I think I’m going to jump on your little bandwagon and start actually having fun again
