So ive been doing some reading on the forums during since ive been driving through texas, and i noticed that there is much hate or dislike towards the didact in halo 4. I personally really loved how the didact was in the game, but i understand were people are coming from. However some off the problems people have i think help the story. It gave an awesome sense of mystery and fear to the game because they show off how powerful he really is and how helpless cheif is in comparison. Along with that even though hes not in the game directly alot its clear his hand is extremly powerful. Powerful to the point were he could almost defeat the infinity without putting himself at risk you know? Thoughts? Other opinions are welcome of course.
He’s a very cool character. He’s receiving flak the same way the Gravemind did in Halo 2, (also a great character).
I loved the voice acting.
And have no idea why he should receive flack.
His character is a very deep one. The book’s go into his reasoning and why he has become so full of hate to humans a lot better.
In short he is deeply bitter that humanity has been given a chance to take the mantel and his race who he believes has up held the job fine has been judged unworthy bu a ancient monster.
Also when it came to the flood. humanity found a way to push it back.
A secret they kept from him upon their defeat.
Also their is a lot of deep war trauma. The books describe how he lost friends and family to the human war.
So yea. most hate for him i think is from a lack of understanding.
Compared the the aforementioned grave-mind. Who was just a poor poet trapped in the most ugly Venus fly traps body.
There’s nothing wrong with the character.
What’s wrong is that he only appears visibly two times and the big finish is a QTE. The rest was dialogue, which is really well spoken but it’s not as engaging since I don’t see him (just like how Johnson and Gravemind were in Halo 3. Their diminished presence was disappointing to me. Look at the Prophet of Truth, even though he didn’t appear in the game, he appeared quite prominently in the cutscenes).
I’d have liked to see more of the Didact instead of having to check the terminals.

Yeah didnt the war with the humans cost the didact all of his childern? Id be pissed at humanity as well haha i wonder if he is indeed alive, if he will allways be a bad guy but i have a feeling his fate will be comfirmed in spartan ops
The voice acting was indeed amazing, i love just to listen to his lines in the cometh cutsceen and his past speech to the council at the end of the game, speaking of which does anyone have the text or the whole quote of the didacts speech?
