Am I the only one who hates jetpack?

I loathe jetpack. It’s ridiculous. It breaks maps. The map designers spent hours and hours designing the multiplayer maps carefully choosing where to put walls to restrict bullets across the map and crates that allow a quick jump-up rather than taking the stairs. But jetpack throws all of that out the window. You might as well be playing on an empty forge world. With jetpack you can move up three stories, get out of the map for 10 seconds to regen your shields, and fly across the map within seconds. Plus, when you’re at the peak of flight, it’s almost impossible to see your head, turning a 5-shot into a 8-shot. Not to mention the lag it has on the radar, by the time the arrow changes from under to next to you, he’s already 10 feet above you. And the man-cannon is absolutely insane, especially on haven.
By now you’re saying “If you think it’s so good, use it.” Well, since Halo 3 I’ve been playing bumper jumper because if you didn’t, you just weren’t reaching your full potential. Everyone knows to jump on the last shot in a BR duel and being able to do that without letting go of the RS gave you an advantage. So clearly bumper jumper was where it’s at, but since Halo Reach, for some reason X is the ability button. Try out BR-ing someone while holding X, it doesn’t work. So people who play bumper jumper are basically handicapped to jetpacks. Why couldn’t they just make it clicking in the left stick, or just let the player make their own control scheme?
Taking out Slayer Pro definitely didn’t make me feel any better since the only playlists without abilities and everything is swat and flood. Oh, and why the heck did they take king of the hill out? And why is there two regicide playlists?? It’s less skill based than and normal FFA to begin with. And where is team snipers and team doubles??? Those playlists have been around since H2. I’m just ranting now so I won’t talk about the DMR or Boltshot. Or Complex.
Just saying here that I have seen some amazing map remakes in forge world (Lockout, Warlock, Narrows) and I would love to play them online competitively for xp and with people other than just my friends. Hopefully some of these will be put into playlists because it is a little tiring playing the same 5 or 6 maps in 4v4 or 5v5 playlists.
But seriously am I the only one who hates jetpack?

i don’t like it. But atleast it doesn’t break maps as bad as halo reach. Fortunatly i don’t see it very often.

i like the jet pack its easier to get to ledges and give a good boost in the man cannon

I dont mind it as much in Halo 4 because its toned way down from Reach.

You aren’t the only one that hates it. It’s not as bad as Reach but you still get too high and it still breaks maps.

Hated it in Reach. Don’t mind it and use it in Halo 4. It’s more of a jump pack than a jet pack.

With jetpack, like it was in Reach, and with maps like Swordbase… But there was just a lot more to hate in Reach, so it wasn’t that big deal.
Here it feels ok. I’m not using it, but I like to shoot those flies down.

I don’t use it and never did and anyone who uses it basically gives you a free kill

It breaks maps and provides players with angles and line of sights they should not have.

yeah i hate it. it feels more like a noob thing. i get killed by people who jetpack with the AR. i mean really get some skill bro

I hope you’re trolling. The jetpack isn’t that much of a problem in this game. Reach… that was a game breaker.

> yeah i hate it. it feels more like a noob thing. i get killed by people who jetpack with the AR. i mean really get some skill bro

Maybe you should get the skills to take them down?

trust me i have “skills” when you don’t see it coming you don’t have time to react

Hated it in Reach, love it in Halo 4.

It’s been toned down and the flight time minimized. It has tremendous utility without being so easily exploited by turds on Uncaged.

I think the jetpack fits well for certain maps, gametypes and play styles.

Not a fan, i like PV more than any of the AA’s in HAlo 4, but i do wonder why some players feel the need to fly and give away a free kill. Its like watching a bunch of hunters duck hunting. One flies in and 4 guns go BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG and dead body falls, 3 players get a kill assist and one player gets a kill, while another player is respawning and planing to do the same thing over again

ya i dont like it either and about bj i have been playing halo competitively since h3 and iv got so attached to recon/h3 default that i dont wanna absolutely destroy my k/d by trying to switch to bj but i know i should try considering i dont even claw on recon and that makes melee almost impossible to aim  any tips on what to do?

> You aren’t the only one that hates it. It’s not as bad as Reach but you still get too high and it still breaks maps.

I got too high the other night and yeah it was really hard to play.

Jetpacks are the best sniper feed I’ve ever seen.

The jetpack is half of what it was in Reach, it’s hardly got any thrust and it lasts only for a couple of seconds yet people still complain. Jetpack is pathetic in Halo 4, I’ve never had a single person with a jetpack kill me in a way that made me feel cheated. They fly up, I shoot them. The only thing it’s good for is getting around the map. People here overreact over every little thing in this game.

Also, how did jetpack break a single map? Everyone acts like the map creators spent hours fine tuning these maps for foot traffic and suddenly jetpack ruins their work as of they had never heard of it before. Newsflash: They KNEW jetpack was going to be used, they had to have known the ways jetpack would work on their maps and I’m sure they built them accordingly. Jetpack didn’t just get dropped in their laps at the last second and “ruin” all of their efforts.

The jetpack can be as much of a liability as a boon. Once you;re airborne, momentum will carry you along a predictable path that you have little to no control over. Learning how to predict where someone will land can give you an edge over jetpack users.

I agree that the playlists are lacking. I don’t think limiting the number of playlists is a good idea. CoD has a lot more options than Halo. And no, I’m not talking about simply emulating CoD. As time went on from 2001, players wanted more options. Halo 4 feels like it’s trying to be so old school that it’s shooting itself in the foot in this regard.
