Am I the only one who feels like this is the end times for Halo?

To bring back the topic of warzone being pay to win i may have missed someone bringing it up as i was kinda skimming

But let me bring up the prophets bane ie the sword that people used to get high killstreaks and winning with during the early days and was one of the poster weapons that shows that the req card system was very much pay to win

Heck when i played 5 i made sure to stockpile my good cards and when i started using them i tended to win my matches

Multiplayer wise this is the worst halo if you’re a solo player IMO and this is an overall experience so I’m not saying other halos don’t have better factors. Let me tell you why. Matchmaking will 8/10 put you on a team where at times half your team isn’t playing or have quit (genuinely since release haven’t seen a game finish with the original starting teams!!) Leaving the game insanely unbalanced, especially when you’re up against squads. I guess due to the low population it rarely adds players when half your team leaves. At times it will give the enemy team a scorpion and your team a gun goose when you’re being practically farmed with half a team v a stacked enemy team!. Absolutely clueless programming! Some weapons seem to be pointless or have flaws, for example why does the plasma pistol not affect vehicles??? It’s not like most vehicles aren’t o.p. Sniper has a stupid glare that even a guy with no eyesight could see! As if in real life snipers have glares like that! The maps are quite big for btb so what’s the point in pistol starts??? Hardly anyone I know liked pistol starts in any of the previous halos but yet 343 decide to keep them. Honestly I could go on forever but the sad low population for the game explains a lot, I can’t even get games early evening at times, a thing I’ve never seen on any halo. Other crazy bugs I get where randomly it doesn’t let you drop a flag??? Or a crazy server bug where it doesn’t load you into the game and boots you back in your menu saying due to inactivity you’ve been booted hahaha??? 343 I hope you read comments like this because let me tell you that you’ve not only managed to take away the original halo authenticity, you’ve also destroyed the population and the fun and this is something a few won’t even forget. I’m a great believer in second chances but after the launch of MCC I’m done giving this company chances!

@Revaci @RamboBambiBambo

I’m probably gonna regret jumping in this but… eff it.

Warzone isn’t pay to win… not exactly at least. Because of the rules of the mode, the advantage paying players have is flimsy. The main advantage is psychological. If I (a F2Per), lose my Hannibal tank I’m not spawning another (heck, I rarely spawned them outside of WZFF anyways). A Payer is just gonna keep spawning them, however, that doesn’t make them a better player and it doesn’t guarantee victory.

At best, WZ is pay to have a varying slight-to-moderate advantage.

Basically, (correct me if I’m wrong, Revaci) is arguing that the slight advantage that paying gives you isn’t enough to be considered “pay to win”. While (correct me if I’m wrong, Rambo) is arguing that ANY paid advantage, no matter how small, should be considered “pay to win”.

Now…

Warzone Turbo on the other hand is ABSOLUTELY pay to win.

Granted skill and luck can throw any strategy into the wind, but statistically speaking a noob and a pro given some of the better items in the game is going to win the fight.

Give a new player a rocket launcher and a longtime player a magnum and see who wins that 1v1 more often.

343 needs a clean wipe of the brass.

Any other company that continuously over-promises and under-delivers like 343 would have their executives shown the front door.

A company cannot survive with the current business model that 343 is utilizing. That’s a fact.

Depends on the range and elevation, but I see what you mean.

You’re delusional. Dead serious.

How so?
(and can someone tell me how to work around the 20 character minimum?)

It’s funny, I didn’t particularly like Halo 5, but I still played a decent amount of it. There were some good parts in it.

With Infinite… I’m having the same experience you are. One day, I just stopped playing Infinite and… Never felt the want or need to go back to it. It doesn’t provide me with any enjoyment anymore. My time in Halo Infinite is boring at best, frustrating and annoying at worst. It pains me as a long-time fan to walk away from a franchise I love, because I was actually hyped for Infinite’s launch but there’s so much that just isn’t working here.

What’s more funny, is that they hoped to appeal to a “broader audience” with Infinite, and that really hasn’t worked. It’s sitting outside the Top 10 on USA Xbox most played games, and averages just barely above MCC in terms of total playerbase on PC. People should get fired for this travesty, but I doubt it’ll be the right people.

Halo is dead. Thanks for the memories.

Same here, I replayed Halo 5 campaign a lot, had all the skulls, and enjoyed replaying the missions I liked most. Halo Infinite campaign could have been okay, if not for the fact it was the same repetitive copy and paste environment everywhere, no imaginative cut scenes, AI that can’t follow you when you start grapple-hooking across the map, and no mission replay, I literally can’t be bothered to play it again, I tried, but it’s way too boring.

The campaign really felt like it was just pieced together at the last minute, and to think one of the biggest marketing hypes was for the Grapple-hook, and personally if I had a choice I’d rather have a jetpack, I think they were trying to attract all the spider-man fans with the grapple-hook, Spider-man is very popular with kids. . This is of course from my perspective.

The thing is, we all know 343 can do what ever they want with the game, and with the franchise, but at the same time they should be bound by an ethical responsibility to be honest with people spending money on their product, and that’s where everything gets sour, they have been anything but honest and even when caught in lies they always choose to double down on the lies or walk a fine line of vague misinformation.

Some people like to point out that some hype and expectations before the release of the game were being pushed out by streamers and not 343, but 343 did nothing to contradict the hype that was circulating, and well, we know why, and that in itself could be considered unethical.

I personally quite liked the campaign, but I have some of the same gripes that you do.

Probably the biggest issue right there. Had the story been more compelling this might’ve been ok. Not all games have replayable missions. Arkham comes to mind but I can’t get enough of those games.

Said it before the campaign release, "343 is crazy if they think we’re gonna be satisfied walking through some trees and grass for 10 years. The forerunner interiors are gorgeous, but get very repetitive too.

There were a few standouts that I thought were great (all of the opening cutscenes, “Welcome to my Tower”, Griffin’s Death, and The Spire Jump). All of those are sick, but so many of them are just “camera spins around the room while Chief talks to the Weapon”. IDK. I miss ODST and Reach.

Which stinks because I love the Marines in this game. Especially their interactions with the Warthogs. I don’t like that they can’t drive though.

Or at least give the marines one so they can keep up. Reach already proved that they can use them.

But that’s where they getcha! It’s “”““free””“” !

No OP, you are definitely not the only one. Halo unfortunately is a sliver of its former self I’m sorry to say and it’s not because arena style FPS’s are “uncool” or “not popular” either.

Oh it most certainly isn’t because arena fps’s are “outdated” legit i got one of my friends who never played halo multiplayer to play some halo 2 classic and 3 slayer matches on mcc and he enjoyed them plenty especially when i started throwing skulls in with halo 2 classic lol

There are barely 2,000 players on Steam right now.

At the same time, Farm Simulator 2021 has over 15,000 players.

Yes…it is the end of times. Any other game would have had its servers shut down at this point.

Give you an idea and point of reference. During Halo 2 days there were a million + on the servers every night! How would you know this? They showed in the matchmaking menu how many were looking for matches. I remember when the game first came out seeing 2.1 million people in LFG. It was unheard of at the time and honestly still is today.

I held out what little hope I had for as long as I could. After seeing the roadmap and backlash from the community I give it a year before the servers go down.

The servers won’t go down because Microsoft won’t admit defeat.

What I do see happening is the rebranding of all future content into Halo 7. The Halo Infinite brand is absolutely ruined beyond repair.

That’s how it feels to me.

Halo Infinite is the only Halo game I not only never finished the campaign for, but I just… Never really played the multiplayer all of that much. Yeah, it’s fun sometimes, but overall it just feels kind of like a hollow experience to me.

I’ve been calling Halo Infinite the game that broke my heart lately. Yeah, Halo 4 and 5 were rough in their own regards, but they both had something fun about them that I could enjoy with my friends… But Halo Infinite? I just can’t find myself enjoying it. I could pick apart various reasons, like the lack of meaningful progression if you choose to play for free, or the predatory monetization that’s been harped on since day one.

But… You have the bugs, the lack of features available at word go in past Halos. But, honestly all of that just compounds with what I dislike the most. And, the game feels… Soulless? Now I don’t mean this in the rose tinted glasses way, I don’t mean this to be dramatic. But, this is the first Halo game that to me honestly just feels like a hollow experience at its core… It feels more modeled after other games than being itself.

Even Halo 4 had a Halo identity, but this game just… Idk, it doesn’t feel right to me. And, that bothers me.
