so you dont even get what im sayin, cool
even if the 20 mil is true, which sure, maybe it is. probably half of it aint actual players that stuck around. theyre probably just bored people who saw a free game, downloaded it, played it once and then never came back
makes the 20 mil sound a hell of a lot less impressive
They probably got 20 million downloads.
I know Iâve downloaded on 3 machines myself (PC, Xbox one X, Xbox series X)
Player retention in the long term is what will matter, and Infinite doesnât look any more impressive than any of 343âs other efforts in that regard. Itâs doing even worse than Halo 4 in terms of percentages.
Do you think the community guy running the Twitter has any experience isolating repro steps and fixing bugs?
What a pants on head stupid post.
Well duh. I donât think their MAU is anywhere close to 10 million players. That would be a god-tier retention rate that would beat out basically every free download ever.
What did Halo 4âs retention look like? I havenât seen any numbers for that one.
The last time Phil got cornered on numbers he said they had 18 million GP subs. Even if they claim 25mil, theyâre not saying if its active users or unique logins.
Basically what Xbox is trying to say is that almost every single potential game pass subscriber, or almost half of Xboxâs entire console base downloaded and played Infinite. Lmao thereâs no way, even 5 when it was exclusive to the console didnât break 2 million when it released. It would have hit much higher numbers on Steam had Infinite been anywhere close to 20 million.
Best case scenario they had 20 million unique logins from the beta to now, but thats not âlaunchâ and its not active players. Its a marketing stunt. If Xbox had those kind of numbers they wouldnât be forcing cross-play.
it had a 50% drop in its playerbase in two weeks, and was down to like 10k people after 6 months.
Now I donât want to doom and gloom Halo here, but if Infinite falls to 10k people as a F2P game expect it to be dropped in a few months and MS to never greenlight another Halo game again.
Also, you do realize that you donât need Gamepass to play Infinite right? I and friends were playing it with a Silver account lol. Common misconception that I keep hearing.
This is irrelevant to why they are pursuing crossplay. MS are wanting to increase their Gamepass subscribers on PC, so its why theyâre so PC oriented nowadays. Popularity has nothing to do with crossplay.
Yeah, that is more than obvious that they are, and seeing how bad things actually are with the game, it makes me wonder what else 343/Microsoft is lying about.
When destiny 2 lost 80% of its player base within the first 2 months Bungie lied about the player count and was calling the player base a liar for actually pointing out the truth. Anytime in the last 4 years, if the player base dropped really low Bungie would have destiny tracker shut down and claimed DT had âissuesâ. it was on point that DT had issues every single time the player base dropped really low.
A lot of those are probably people that booted up the game one time and never played it again. Lots of people will download a f2p game just to see what itâs about. And probably a lot of gamepass subs that only tried the campaign.
Im taking the steam numbers and multiplying it by ten. Yes its made up and yes its very generous.
Its a dumpster fire haemorrhaging players. The fact it has 20m downloads and lets be real, no where near 200k concurrent playerbase is an epic, epic fail.
Imagine any product where 99% of your customers thought it was garbage.
PC doesnât want GP, thats already been proven. It matters because Xbox does not have the active player base to support their games, hence cross-play being forced. Without it, youâd be able to see how few people are actually playing these games. PC does not need cross-play, Xbox does.
You can believe 20 million people played Infinite. Thereâs no reality where thats true, but feel free to believe it.
I donât remember subscribing to a Joke of the Day SMS.
What? Who told you this? What makes you think this?
You could find matches in Halo 4 lol. You donât need a billion people on at one time to find matches.
Again, they never needed it to begin with. They wanted it. How do you think people found matches before Halo Infinite? Halo 2? Halo 3? Halo Reach? Halo 4? Halo 5? do go on how those games didnât have enough people to find matches.
I donât. My point (in response to yours) is that Gamepass numbers are irrelevant to Infinite. Because Infinite does not require Gamepass to play.
Yea if 343 put out at leaderboard with # of games played, it would so 8 million or more Iâd bet with 10 or less games.
Yea i doubt it with all my heart. Kinda reminds me of the Anthem fiasco. They kept saying the game was going great and it was going to continue to get support and improvementsâŚwhen in reality the game was tanking hard and they cut support for the game a month or so later.
Just looking at halo tracker. This tracks the stats of all halo players.
Granted this figure is from the CONTROLLER Only playlist so is probably more skewed towards console players. Id do open but it doesnât show a rank when you hit onyx for some reason.
Im ranked 27,670 and in the top 10%.
So basically that amounts to 270,700 players roughly that have had at the least, a single game of ranked.
There is no way⌠no god -Yoink!- way this title has had 20m legit users. Even with smurfs thats just unrealistic. Especially considering how barren the playlists were in the first 2 weeks.
Ranked was a third of the entire playlist.
Only 1/3 of players have even played a single ranked game.
Thereâs 1.2m users in the Crossplay but I donât even know if that includes unranked players.
20 mill is most likely accounts which have in some way or form touched the game.
Iâm going to jot it down as basic PR speech which has an undefined truthful, yet nonsensical relation to the actual player situation, whatever that may be.
The first Battle Pass was said to be free, yet look where we are. It is indeed free, but has a paid part.
Even thatâs only 6.6million players. Thatâs a big difference from 20m players.
They clearly pulled that number from the same orifice as the store prices.
Every game has this happen, if you see the most unlocked achievement on games it can often be fairly low. Haloâs is 60% which is very low to be honest but with 20 million players that is still 12 million that have all unlocked that same achievement.
Comparative to the other Halo games obviously this is the most successful launch to date, which makes sense it being free and on pc too.
Not denying that it is successful, but for me itâs the ânumbersâ game.
20 million is an impressive number, but it feels dishonest to just blurt it out if a large part of it just started, got registered in the statistics, closed it and uninstalled for whatever reason.
