i mean it sure as hell sounds like an overly high number (just like the store prices). on steam it says the peak was like 240k. i know that doesnt mean everyone whos ever played it on steam played it that day but still, thats a long shot away from 20 million people, right?
i know thats also just steam and not xbox, but i think sayin anything over 5 million is generous for steam, did 15 million people seriously play it on xbox or game pass or whatever?
look what im sayin is i aint gonna be surprised if this is 343 just lyin cause their games goin to hell
The F2P sure help to reach this score but look the game now, there are not 20 millions players. Lot of my friend tried the game at the launch but hasn’t played since.
thats probably why they even posted it in the first place. first they act like they listen to community feedback when they dont, so now they just ignore it and pretend the games doin way better than it actually is
yeah i know, otherwise i wouldnt have assumed that. its just when most companies do it i dont really care cause its a company or game i dont care about. i care about halo though so when 343 does that crap it just pisses me off
honestly in hindsight i aint even that surprised. they screwed up all the other games they made and the only one that went okay was the one that was just a buncha ports, but even then that took em forever to get right
To be fair. They DID break MCC ports and make it a hot pile of garbage for the better part of a year. It was only when they farmed out fixing it to ex-Bungie staff did it become what it is now. A working product.
Yah this is where wording really matters and we have no idea what was really meant except them trying to show off numbers. This was most likely referring to total amount of connections to the game since it’s launch and not regarding current players or platform specific players. But imagine posting this nonsense bragging about your numbers when you are incapable of fixing your own broken game… dwell on that and ask yourself where their respect or lack of, lies.
Game Pass has 25 million+ users (some people share too), factor in Steam (250k was the player peak so there were more than that across multiple days) and then there are people who would have bought digital/physical too.
So 20 million is obviously not a fabrication, it’s easily believable.
maybe, but even then i kinda doubt like, 80% or something? of game pass users actually wanna play halo. if the 20 mil is accurate im pretty sure more than half of those people just downloaded it cause it was free and then never played it again
You’d be surprised how many people mention MCC when referring to 343’s effort. Sure, they deserve credit for the remasters and especially for providing us with Halo 2A’s glorious cutscenes. But, they cannot be looked at like they developed some amazing game out of it, because imo they’ve never developed an amazing game.
Bet they wont publish peak and concurrent player numbers though. We all know they are dropping.
Season 2 needs to be spectacular and the matchmaking and d-sync issues need to be gone or by that point, even the most ardent fans will have to accept the game is garbage.
Yah give us a population count like Halo 3 did! I used to log on every day and see that wonderful 500k players online for a LONG time. I used to be able to see which playlists were thriving and which had less population as well which helped me decide what I wanted to play.
They really dont. The release was that bad Microsoft compensated those that purchased it with a free game. Thats on par with sony pulling cyberpunk from the play store.
The repair to make it what it is today were outsourced to Ex-Bungie staff.
They were glorious. They were not however done by 343. These were outsourced.
Literally the only thing 343 are good at is picking up the phone and calling in support.
