Like they took plenty of stuff that made Halo 4 “bad” and are polishing them so they make Halo great. Plus this game looks fun!!!
Agreed. They balanced out the things that made Halo 4 unbalanced, and added new stuff as well.
No you are not alone they have basically rectified there mistakes of old Halo 5 looks like it will be a true evolution of the game and not a Halo 4. Even though Halo 4 was a good game and enjoyable it was not Halo enough, Halo 5 on the other hand seems to be on the right track and I cannot wait to try out the Beta.
You’re not alone. I wouldn’t say I’m one hundred per cent positive towards Halo 5, but I definitely like the majority of what I’m seeing. It certainly beats Reach and Halo 4.
I’m a bit suspicious of some things but I must say when watching the gameplay footage, there was plenty of hip firing, weapons on map, everyone has the same base player traits, equal starts it really looked like a classic halo game with new abilities. I was one of the people semi raging before I actually saw the game but now I’m excited to play the beta in January.
just hopefully with thruster and slide, you still retain the ability to shoot because combat and movement have always been one in the same in halo and I feel its important that stays. I’d be happy if they made it so you could shoot and sprint at the same time as well, at least than it wouldn’t be solely a defensive mechanic other than for double pummels.
I think ledge grabbing would be better if you have to press a button at the right time in order to use it opposed to just being close to the ledge. 343 might have mentioned that I’m not sure, but it would definitely add some skill as long as it doesn’t replace skill jumps.
Smart scope is my one main grief with what I saw yesterday, I’d like to see it taken off non-scoped weapons like the AR and also have a toggle option between new and classic zoom.
I like the blend of the halo CE/Reach and halo 2,3,4 health system as well. One thing I like about reach is knowing how close I am to death, one thing I like about 3 is starting every new encounter off fresh, now they’ve combined those two things and it looks great.
People are capable of learning from mistakes. The fact that they’re trying to balance everything, plus the recent care and respect they’ve shown towards the lore (bringing back certain characters, elaborating more on ones we know, etc.) has given me confidence that they can handle it. As for Halo 5, I like what I see: they’re going back to what made it competitive, but also adding in new stuff to differentiate it from previous titles (and balancing that new stuff), so I look forward to it all.
Looks fine with me, I actually rather like the idea of Spartan Abilities. Things like clamber will fix that horrible, horrible issue of almost jumping high enough to pass over a certain obstacle but not quite making it (you all know how annoying that was). I’d like to see more of that 6 shot Missile Launcher, I’m guessing it replaces the two shot Rocket Launcher.

I still have my doubts, but this video calmed me a little:
What I want though is the abiity to change the buttom layout as it simply sounds weird in the same video.
I love it, arena shooters are meant to be fast with high mobility options and good lengthy gun play. The ridiculous arguments of halo 5 not being an arena shooter makes me sad because it takes the old school arena moves like dashing and double jumping and in general high mobility but polishes it to make it look new when in fact they are features essentially seen first during the early unreal tournament and quake days. Alot of people claim this to look like a cod game but don’t stand back to actually look what is going on. Cod has repetetive easy quick gunplay with very low reaction time making it frustrating and twitchy whereas halo has fun gunplay with alot of reaction time and decently lengthy battles that feel better and reward skill and consistent precision unlike cod. And another thing about ADS, in halo 5 aiming down your sights has absolutely no effect on your mobility, spread or any other statistic of weapons other than a slight magnification and tighter FOV. So far it seems like an arena shooter borrowing some standard FPS elements to enhance an arena setting and not the other way around like cod is doing, and so far I’m liking what I’m seeing.
We all should give it a try! How can we judge without having played it?
It looks much faster and competitive to me…
And the major thing for me is: Hey they are SPARTANS why just let them jump high and not be the super soldiers from the books?
Not alone. It seems like they’re really trying to keep things balanced and fun. I’m glad the beta is so far out from launch. It’s a real beta.
The gameplay I’ve seen makes me excited to try it out.
You aren’t alone bro! The true fans of Halo are still staying with Halo’s great journey. It does seem like they have fixed Halo 4’s mistakes. Can’t wait for the game now!
You ain’t alone brah
Halo 5 is shaping up to be fantastic.
Those complainers shouting “OMG it’s COD” are just the vocal minority.

I wish you were the only one, OP, but there seems to be many who are excited.
This game is going to finish what Halo 4 started, and it makes me very sad.
I didn’t see anything that resembled fun in the preview, to me.
Almost everything that makes Halo so great is missing.

I feel the same way, I want to feel like I’m Spartan from the books, comic, and everything else.

That has never been annoying. Whenever that happens to me, I know the exact reason: I failed the jump. I timed my jump incorrectly, it was my own fault, and I deserve whatever consequences it has because I made a mistake. That’s the whole point of challenge in games: you make a mistake, you get punished for it. When that punishment is taken away, the game becomes less challenging.
Clamber “fixes” an “issue” that was never an issue at all, but just one of those aspects that differentiates a more skilled player from a less skilled player. What’s the point of playing a game if your hand is held all the time, and there is nothing to learn? As a person who takes games as a challenge, I find this trend alarming.
I like it however I’m a bit suspicious/unsure about thruster pack, climbing, and sprint ones.
I think that the sprint should be gained from moving forward without stopping, gradually increasing speed which then allows you to do the two abilities. I don’t want the classic run away thing to happen…
Thruster pack is an unsure topic for me
Climbing is a no for me however. It seems to ruin the skill of trick jumping/positioning.
Aiming on the semi/full auto guns are ones which I don’t support if they alter the spread or ROF.
Otherwise it is actually a pretty solid game, my final nitpick is that the new pistol and rocket launcher don’t seem very futuristic or outlandish like other Halo weapons, rather it seems more modern, I would prefer a different design for them, but it isn’t a biggy.
No, you’re not alone. Halo 4 did a lot of things poorly, but that doesn’t mean you just flat out get rid of them. Things like sprint and thruster seem to be adequately addressed now. I’m not keen on some of the gimmicks like ground pound, but you can’t win 'em all.
Overall, I’m encouraged. This is pretty much what I hoped for in a multiplayer preview – nothing earth shattering, keeping it small and delivering big. I can’t wait to play.

I’m just thinking objectively to be honest, if we look back at older franchises and dissect their shortcoming and/or deaths, a shred of a pattern emerges. For example, the unreal tournament series, it was loved to death so much that the developers were so hesetant to change much from 2k3-ut3 that it died because of the sparce changes, another that fell pray was medal of honor, not much change, then warfighter brought too much and killed itself so to speak because it didn’t evolve. Another is quake, not enough change between games. In my honest opinion catering to those who constantly want very little change or are afraid of it will kill franchises, it has happened and it will again wich is why i say keep the change coming. People hate halo 4 and I totally understand that. But it was a massive learning experience for 343i because I believe it was a bad step in the right direction because they hit the nail on the head and secured potential, but didn’t refine it enough to look pretty or hold well enough. Spartans should in gameplay be in sync with halo lore because Spartans have amazing capabilities so why not introduce it to gameplay in a way that enhances it. On that note, forge and customs come to mind, wich once everyone calms down from matchmaking is where everyone turns to, so to get the balance right, give us options to toggle ourselves from a full out Spartan to a space derp from halo Ce and everything in between, that way it adds life to the game and bonds the community more and has us shouting for more during the wait for the next highly polished addition because customs for halo will extend life like nothing else. They seem to be doing great for multiplayer and probably campaign, now give us a never ending fix of custom games so we don’t forget about you.
