Nope, you’re not. I love the Plasma Rifle and severely dislike the Storm Rifle (no, not because it’s new; sigh). I certainly hope it makes a comeback sometime soon!
Storm Rifle Sucks
I like what they’ve done with the new storm rifle. It’s not just a reskinned AR, but sits in it’s own place in the sandbox.
With controlled bursts I can see this weapon being deadly at range and if you do squeeze the trigger down, at close range against an opponent who is coming right at you will really suffer because it seems to be able to unload half it’s charge in about a second and a half. Seems to strip shields much better than the storm rifle did in previous games like a true plasma weapon should - making it a great gun for fireteams. (And it fires big powerful looking blue bolts finally!)
I will miss the iconic Plasma Rifle though with it’s big blue bolts. I can see it returning as a REQ card for sure.
The storm rifle is utter crap. Why turn an original, alien-looking weapon into something so generic as the storm rifle? Alterations like this absolutely boggle my mind. There’s no point in changing staple parts of the Halo series like the plasma rifle and original rocket launcher.
Oh dude join the club! The storm rifle design is pretty cool but nothing compares to thr iconic plasma rifle. Especially after the justicr H2A did to it. It would be cool if the arbiters faction uses the plasma rifle while the storm faction uses the STORM RIFLE. Im curious as to see what will replace it, or if they’ll just ignore it all together. But is it confirmed not to be returning?
For me, while I do love the Plasma Rifle, and the Brute Plasma Rifle even more, the Storm Rifle is just better in every way.

True, halo weapons were unique and are slowly being replaced by stupid generic designs. Shotgunn and the rocket launcher are prime example. Sad really

What are you talking about? The Plasma Rifle is absolutely amazing on Halo 3; I get so many kills in matchmaking thanks to it.
Although I will agree that it’s utterly useless in Halo 2 and Halo: Reach multiplayer.

You sure it’s not Plasma Rifle + melee? Bleedthrough is absolutely ridiculous in Halo 3 
We have SMGs alongside ARs, so Plasma Rifles should be there alongside Storm Rifles to fill the same role the SMG has. Otherwise the covenant doesn’t have their own CQB automatic weapon.

It was the opposite of amazing in Halo 3. It did absolutely no damage once shields were out. If I recall correctly it actually does equal damage to both body and shields in Halo 2, making it slightly stronger than in H3.
The plasma rifle is needed imo, wouldn’t mind the plasma repeater to come back either.
Storm Rifle sucked , half the amo , bad accuary , overheats more , bad range , Plasma Rifle is better in every way

I love the plasma riffle and the brute plasma riffle here’s to hoping they make an elegant return
Due to the Mythic Weapons and Req. Pack updates, I have a feeling we’ll see at least 1 CE-like PR return. Due to nostalgia and the way the said system works, I could live with a Brute PR popping its crimson butt into play with a more SMG-like use than CE’s properly titled “rifle.”
Meh, personally I only liked it in it’s Halo CE incarnation, where it felt really unique (mostly due to it’s stun-mechanic, but also because it had extremely good accuracy compared to the AR which was more machine-gun like in it’s high spread). In Halo 2/3, it simply played just like a carbon copy of the SMG, the only significant difference being that it had a cool-down/overheat system instead of reloads, meaning it could be fired indefinitely if the player paced their shots and burst-fired, but honestly I didn’t really feel like that was enough to set it apart.
As far as I’m concerned we have not had a real plasma rifle for over 10 years. CE had the only real plasma rifle, the rest were just blue smgs pretending to be a PR. While I do like the aesthetics of the Plasma Rifle, I can’t say I care to see it return if we are only going to get a shell of a weapon.
At least the Storm Rifle looks lethal based on the gameplay I’ve seen of it, which is more than I can say for the plasma rifles in H2/H3/Reach.
