Am I the only one offended by the Anubis pack's existence/name?

No, I’m not trolling. Get over the idea that some people have beliefs.

Hey there! As a Norse Pagan, I’m really, really glad you came out and said this! There is not a whole lot of respect given to religions that aren’t the like, big five or so. I feel pretty bad and even guilty that we got the whole Drengr set for free. Though minor note, Tyr, our God of War’s name, was used for one of the helmets. Difference is it was more appropriate and I am feeling you on this.

So, like. I’m sorry. It is extremely distasteful for them to package and sell another nation’s religion, even if it isn’t a very popular one (but there IS a rise in its practice!) for such an egregious price. I am right there with you.

what do you want them to charge $1000 for it or something? nobody would buy it at that price…

OP is either trolling or is seeking attention and validation.

No, OP doesn’t want their Gods used for monetary gain period. Neither do I.

No, they’re quite serious.

No, I want it to be priced rationally, like everyone else in this blasted forum. Helmets are probably the most important part of an armor set, so price them all the same at…like, $3-$5, max?
I want my faith to not be used as extra temptation for my wallet.

Preach. I am fully ready to see them throw the Drengr stuff at us someday while asking money for it.

“Things are bad here and you should accept it.”
No.

Would it still be offensive if it was free? What about if it were just an allusion like “master of secrets”. Where’s the line here

Read the rest of my post pal?
If you are seriously offended by an armour set of inpu in halo I genuinely can’t take that seriously.
Your offended hes in the game but are totally fine the entire franchise is built on appropriation and demonising of a religion or organised theocracy in general and have no issue with mjolnir as a whole? Sure.
If this isn’t a troll then you should be ashamed that you only care about your own beliefs and don’t have the integrity to treat others with the respect you feel entitled to.
American media often pulls from outside sources you better stop supporting most of it if you wish for the wolf god to respect your soul and body in death.
Hey stop besmirching my countrymen and their works with that username 2.
Its offensive to those of use that studied Irish literature and our history for a New England cainite to appropriate his fine work like that!

Lord give me strength as you are quite clearly testing me.

Just to clarify, I didn’t accuse you of accusing me

I just noticed there might be some misunderstandings and that I should remove the comment before someone (not you) took it the wrong way.

Oppression and Appropriation effects different cultures disproportionately. As those in a position of power, appropriation of Christian aesthetics or names does not effect the institutional power they hold. Appropriating the names and aesthetics of now far smaller religions, cultures and beliefs, effects them far more and serves to trivialize them.

You are counter baiting and walking into the thread of someone who is voicing a genuine, angered, heartfelt concern, from a position of cultural power, and telling them to be quiet.

In other words: You are part of the problem.

Wow your response time is insanely quick!

Best thread ever I love you all so much guys. This is just one hilarious mess.

So many miss communications.

Valid point about the white thing BTW.
Although I associated it with elite ultras I’m now gonna go “ooh unfortunate.” Every time I see a -Yoink!- variant haha.

Yeah…no. Sorry but do you watch any sort of media at all? The big religions get ripped on all the time and in ways that are extremely condescending and disrespectful. These are pieces of mythology we’re talking about, and I’m not ripping on anyone for holding any religious beliefs but using the lore in these for naming purposes is far from disrespectful. Names and themes are taken from literature and mythology all the time, religious or otherwise. If you don’t like it, well that’s fair. Don’t want to say you’re not allowed to not like something, but to say others should be held to your belief’s standards? I’m sorry, but if that’s the case you really need to get over yourself.

Yes. I do watch media. I am on a Halo forum. I cannot believe you are asking such an asinine question.

If people are telling you, “what you’re doing is disrespectful / you are profiting off my or my people’s religion” and your only rebuke is, “everyone else does it” you do not have an argument.

It’s actually a nod to the Egyptian faith as Anubis is sold as part of a Set and Anubis is the child of Set.

Isn’t there a upgraded grunt with white armor too?

Nvm. I’m not gonna be the one to start a discussion about that
