The story for Halo 5 looks great but I don’t like the gameplay. I have played the beta and I just didn’t like it. My biggest problem is ads, I always felt like that was something that made halo special but now i just feel like they think they need to keep up with and compete with COD. I like the clambering it is a good addition and the dash is fine but I don’t like the ground pound, but like I said my biggest problem is ads. Does anyone else feel like this?
By ads I mean aim down sights.
Is it the visuals that bother you the most about ADS? Or is it that you can use it with automatics?
Smart Scope is still more like traditional Halo zoom than CoD ADS so don’t worry too much about it. It’s still very much Halo, now the automatics are just better.
The game looks amazing
I’m just upset with ground pound and the melee thrust.
I think a simple browsing of these forums would show that you aren’t.
I am definitely going to give Halo 5 a chance and I am going to try to have an open mind, but I wasn’t a big fan of the beta so I hope the actual game is as good as the others.

Zoom my man, you need to embrace your namesake more.
They seem to get the message too, as 343 has changed the DMR zoom to look way more traditional, and the clasisc scope of the BR.

How so??
It’s perfectly ok to not be excited for Halo 5 or dislike the gameplay, that’s why MCC let’s you play the older Halo games. Personally I think it plays very smoothly and the beta is probably the most fun I’ve had with a Halo game in years.
Hip fire doesn’t make Halo unique. The concept has been around abd used long before Halo was even an idea. And ADS is not something original to CoD either.

Why exactly is ADS such a problem? The difference between Smart Scope and CoD’s ADS is that in CoD, you can’t hit the side of a brick wall at point blank range unless you scope in. With Halo 5, there isn’t really any reason to scope in unless you’re trying to zoom in. Sure, in the beta the bullet spread was tightened for automatics but nowhere near the level that it is in CoD.
Also, what’s your complaint with ground pound? I’ve seen a lot of people hating on it but I’ve never understood why. From my beta experience, ground pound was very difficult to do right and I’m pretty sure I only got one kill with it the entire time. Sure, it’s super powerful but it’s also difficult to do, a perfect balance in my book. But please let me know why you disliked it, I’m honestly very curious.
Bah, This is not even worth it.

You can stop them from happening by not commenting on them. Be the bigger person and walk away.

Oh! Thanks for explaining with a second post instead of editing the OP. That would have been too convenient. Snarkiness aside, to answer your question, yes you are the only person in the world not very excited about H5.

Not saying halo was unique or COD created ADS but I felt like some of the charm of Halo games was not having ADS and it seems like putting that in is just a way for them to try to compete with COD.

I don’t thing the ground pound is overpowered at all and I really don’t know why i dislike it it just doesn’t feel very Halo to me and like I said I will try to go into Halo 5 with and open mind but I was just not a fan of the ADS.

Then don’t play it. It’s simple, why exactly is this needed on the forums? I love it. You don’t. Don’t play. Simple.
You probably aren’t the only one. I’m sure this thread of yours will catch others like you like a net with fish
I’ve personally been very happy with what most of what I’ve seen and experience of Halo 5 so far. There are definitely a few things I would have liked to see done differently, but so far it seems miles better than the Halo 4 disaster. I was initially a bit worried about the new smart scope, psuedo ADS system, but it didn’t really seem to change the gameplay negatively during my time in the beta so it more or less gets a pass on my end.
No split screen is definitely my biggest hang up at the moment however. I’ve been able to stay in contact with my friends that I grew up playing Halo in our basements together with, and we still get together from time to time to do just that. It’s a huge shame to see the social aspect of Halo be gutted like that. It’s like watching the soul of Halo being ripped right out of it. Now if we want to recreate that experience we’ll need a separate TV and xbox for every player in the same room. I don’t know about everyone else, but I didn’t really have the space or resources to host lan parties back in the day, and this change is basically mandating that kind of set up. I know 60 fps is important and I’m very glad to see it be standard, but seeing other companies do 60fps splitscreen and then having 343 declare it impossible rubs me the wrong way. I can’t really say this move shocks me as split screen in Halo 4 had horrible frame rate drops when that game was only running at 30 fps. It just seems like 343 is very limited in their capabilities in this regard where many other triple A game studios don’t seem to be.
Having gone off topic a bit I’ll say that I am excited for Halo 5, but 343’s past troubled launches and certain developments like no split screen leave me trying to damper my own enthusiasm as much as possible to avoid the another round of the disappointment they’ve handed all to me often so far. I don’t plan on pre-ordering this game and looking at 343’s launch history so far it would probably be a mistake do so.
