Seriously, SWAT should have never had a place in Halo. Its such an absurd game type. I feel like its used as a vent for COD players to get as close to COD as they can through Halo 4. You get spawn killed, you die in a fraction of a second,(Because “Skill”)Your kills are based on a single fire which Halo was never played as such. Really man? Every time I get on halo 4 and SWAT comes up as the most voted game, I immediately quit. I don’t deal with a game type that plays horrible with halo,in fact, shouldn’t belong in Halo 4 at all. Its frustrating, cheap, and above all is a waste of time. But hey, all I can do is sit here and complain. I know it wont be taken down anyway. Just puzzles me why people play such a game type and how it even became an integrated playlist.I say this as a long time player for the Halo Franchise.
UPDATE: 6/15 - For those replying to not play it, it is also on multi-team. Which happens to be my all time favorite playlist for Halo. So I am at a loss because when it comes on from time to time everyone votes it up. I started at Halo 3 so I assumed SWAT originated in Halo 3. However, I of course went back to beat Halo 2 and Halo but never really played them online. Lastly I’m going to go over why I dislike SWAT one more time. People have replied that spawnkilling is a “huge part of SWAT”. That’s cool, I’m sure you can understand that many people don’t like that as I don’t either. Its COD style play by twitching reaction. I’d much rather actually have a battle with someone that will last and be meaningful to see who lands the most head shots or outsmarts the other opponent.(SWAT also encourages camping if you haven’t noticed in multi-team)If You basically get spotted, you die. Wheres the fun and skill in that? Headshots? Because I wasnt looking at you? Because your probably hiding somewhere? Where you know everyone is spawning? I think Ive made my point clear of why, in my opinion, I dont like SWAT and do my best to avoid it on Halo 4. Props to the community who do play it though. But that’s beyond me.
Err what? SWAT is in the SWAT playlist only. Or it least it’s supposed to be, but 343 wanted to put it into Multiteam to ruin that playlist.
I don’t mind it being there for the people who like to play it. it’s not affecting my game. but i don’t really enjoy it
You do know that there are 16 playlists right? The SWAT playlist offers SWAT gametypes (true story). And the Multi Team playlists offers a wide variety of gametypes, one of which is SWAT.
If my calculations are correct, that leaves about hmm… 14 alternate playlists to play in which do not include SWAT as a playable gametype.
SWAT has a massive community, and has its own “skill” to it.
> Your kills are based on a single fire which Halo was never played as such
Except it has. SWAT has been around since Halo CE (although it has been in Matchmaking since Halo 2), and has always been 1 headshot = 1 kill.
So therefore potatoes.
Nobody said you had to enjoy it.
I enjoy it for my own reasons. Why is that such a big problem?
You do know that SWAT was in Halo Reach, HGalo 3, and I think Halo 2 as well…
I just wish SWAT wasn’t an option in Multi Team, if I wanted to play SWAT I would go in the SWAT playlist. SWAT on maps like Abandon in multi team is stupid.
It’s an alternate way to play the game, just like snipers and Grifball. And, just like snipers and Grifball, it has it’s own community, it’s own tactics, and it’s own playlist. It’s fine if you don’t think it belongs in Halo, but a lot of people, myself included, really enjoy SWAT.
SWAT has always been and always will be a part of halo. It emphasizes fast reflex and pinpoint aiming, something from your post I’m assuming you need to work on.
> I just wish SWAT wasn’t an option in Multi Team, if I wanted to play SWAT I would go in the SWAT playlist. SWAT on maps like Abandon in multi team is stupid.
You think Abandon is bad for multiteam SWAT? Try Ragnarok, made me quit multiteam the first time I tried it.
I like SWAT, but I miss the upped damage resistance that Reach and 3 had. I feel it’s outrageous that people will gladly just shoot you three times versus trying to get a headshot.
I mean, it’s about headshots.
I don’t like Swat at all, but there are people who do so it should have a place in Halo. That place though should only be the Swat playlist, it shouldn’t plague other ones.
I don’t like SWAT, but that’s mostly because I’m not good at it. I don’t hate it enough that I’m going to say it has no place in Halo. A lot of people really like SWAT. There’s no way it’s going to disappear any time soon.
Then dont play it. Its simple, however you dont decide what “belongs” in Halo, and given its popularity, most people wont agree. Its not cheap, sounds to me like you just arent very good at it.
SWAT is in its own playlist for a reason…
It’s strange, I was just playing SWAT today. I don’t usually play the game type, but today I was simply in the mood for it. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it, plus ‘Multi-Team’ is for a variety of game types. It would be ludicrous to have a separate playlist for Multi-Team SWAT…

Multi-Team SWAT shouldn’t even exist. It always ends in spawn killing. The spawns in this game just aren’t good enough for it to work well.
I dont like SWAT, but i respect the people that likes it, what annoys me the most is that when i want to play multi - team with my friend SWAT is always picked, i can play it in close maps, but when it is picked in ragnarok i cant stand it
If you don’t like it then don’t play it. I enjoy it and if you want it removed then screw you.
Spawn killing is a huge part of SWAT. If you a bad to decent player facing bad to decent players then it really doesn’t play much part but if you and your team has the slightest bit of skill then the object of the game is to gain map control before the other team does so your team can start spawn killing. Its as much apart of SWAT as headshots, accuracy, and fast reflex’s. For those compainling about spawn killing, its pretty clear you are either not very good or you run with a bad team, or solo, which this gametype was not intended for which is why they put you on a team of 4. Except for the multi-team which is two, leaving my last point null and void.
Everyone pretty much answered the original post, so I’m not going to bother.
