Am I playing infection wrong?

As far as I know camping is hated in all shooter video games, everyone hates the dude hiding in the corners and jumps to kill you with a shotgun, right?
Then why was so asked a gametipe that encourages camping?

Is it really the objective of the survivors team to camp? I’m quitting infection due all the survivors always camping, but I want your opinion, wouldn’t be more interesting a game mechanic that makes the survivors rotate around the map? A capture base sort of thing, whoever makes it to the last base gers more points.

there are variants to the game type that involve having to make it through a maze or map to reach the end, but that is a good question on why ppl dont like camping yet we like infection. maybe its the closest we will get to a zombie apocalypse ever

Nope infection is always hole up and defend as long as you can, the infected can always beat this with a good swarm, but then it comes down to skill and luck can one infected swarm get at least 1-2 survivors if they can the rest of the defense will crumble, or will they be skilled enough to clear properly and survive the wave on infected for now without running dry on ammo. If infection was played where you are force to move then all the infected had to do is crouch by a corner and camp themselves until a survivor runs by and since this eliminates the range difference from infected to survivor it would be tilting the balance

Usually most camping spots all a flaw you can use to get a kill or two. They you build up your zombie horde and swarm everyone.

Most games I play when infected, I don’t give survivors time to setup >;D

Infection has and will be always a setup and hold gametype for the most part. If youre a zombie practically every holdout spot is easily able to break in and infect so it’s not too unfair.

Better maps

yeah

there are a couple that I think could do without having an exploit where the only way to get a camper is if there is only one of them and you throw a horde of infected at them. Other maps are pretty good I think.

Lots of players have different play styles when it comes to infection, some like to “camp” others prefer to move around. I believe an Infection map or game mode should be designed to accommodate both of these preferences whilst being fair to the Infected.

  • that’s why it has some changes like less ammo and no pistol starts (Ar instead), to go out where you are camping to search ammo or powerfull weapons.
  • what the hell are you talking about, it is just an iconic thing in halo, it needed to be there.

Yes, camping is a staple in Infection. The maps are designed with choke points and funnels to allow for camping. As the survivors dwindle, traversing the map becomes more dangerous, and camping becomes the most likely way to survive. But even then, if the zombies coordinate and swarm players, even camping can’t save them.

When I first started playing Infection I would camp like crazy and honestly not do all that well. Then I started watching some videos and some of the best players don’t camp in the crouched down in a corner sense, but they stay in one area and control 2 or 3 long angles so they can’t be snuck up on from any direction. I’ve started trying this and doing much better. If you get on a roll you can really get after it.

Didn’t knew about those variations I don’t have people to play custom games, but they sound interesting.

Hole defense sounds like camping but anyway, what you mentionen is right a good.coordinated swarm of infected could finish the spartan hold up, but.some players don’t, use mic so it’s hard to coordinate, for me it’s hard to.call outs because English is my second language but I give my.try.
I think if.the game forces the movement the alpha infected shouldn’t have camo to balance

True, the right coordination could end a camp spot, but some people don’t use mic so it’s hard to build a swarm.

I suck as a infected,can’t kill more than 3 to 5 humans.
One game I don’t know if the map is maded that way or the dudes moved some creates to.make.a barrier the only way to enter was a little hole, and inside were all players with no.chance to enter.

Infection has been campy since reach came along unfortunately. The map design doesn’t help, there are too many places to set up.

I think the maps are good but man those dam dead ends are became better for the humans instead for the infected to catch players.

I like to patrol the map but hardly anyone follows and I mostly end killed.

Infection has all ways sort of been this way…

  1. You’re right players run for power weapons, that could be the chance for.the infected to catch players before they hold up.
  2. I don’t care how iconic it is, it doesn’t suit my playstyle, I’m sure you also have one gamemode that you don’t like to play.
