When playing the Halo 5 Beta I noticed that people were able to keep their smart scope on almost constantly even while under fire and at first I was confused then I realized why.
When I set my button layout I chose bumper jumper and throughout playing I felt that there was a disadvantage to me because of it. I switched to Default for a while and, yup, smart scope is immensely easier to use this way.
So I guess now I am asking 343i if I will have to use default or some other layout just to be play on an even playing field or if 343i will be able to improve the layout for options a bit for those who have a different preference but simply don’t want to be playing at a disadvantage.

That constant zoom was a confirmed glitch with the kill cam. Theyre reducing the bonus of SS so anyone useing anything other than default wont be at as much a disadvantage. Each controls offer diffrent advantages over one another just stick to what works for you.

He’s talking about how the Default scheme apparently has the ability to automatically scope back in after being descoped if you hold LT down.
Personally, I’ve never heard of anyone testing it on the other schemes, i.e if auto-rescope is in effect if you hold down and don’t just click RS.
You can notice “smart scoping” while not in first person?? Coming from a player that would always re Zoom after every hit in a long range BR battle in halo 2-3 while bumper jumping. Default is really not a big advantage. It’s less of an advantage than not having leave RS to jump imho.
I don’t see how, bumper jumper is the best choice for Halo 5 imo. Just aim with the R3 as always.

It does not work on Bumper. I’ve tried. AFAIK default is the only scheme that allows you to rescope like that unless other layouts have scope on the trigger.
Man I have tried so many controller layouts.
I get close but thats it.
So dont be too up sad
I did well with Bumper Jumper and will probably still use it once Halo 5 comes out. Being able to jump, melee, shoot, and throw grenades while never leaving the thumbsticks in just too useful.

This. And I got a Scuf controller so I can X, or thruster without leaving the joysticks. BADASS!
I was pretty upset to find out there was no options for classic controls
They said in the changes of halo 5 that they’re going to fix this so that default controls would also need to press LT to zoom back in after the get shot
