am i eligible for the free content?

hi i bought and played halo master chief day 1, i tried multiplayer but couldnt get a match, i havent tried since but have been playing single player campains, i have updated the game ect online, watched nightfall most of the rest of the videos, mostly everything but played multiplayer as i was going to wait until it was fixed, will i still be eligible for the free content?

You should be eligible. I’m not sure if I will be, I pre-ordered the game, but after hearing about all the bugs I never played it and only used it to watch Nightfall from day one. I never actually installed the disk onto my Xbox.

So you have had the game for over a month and have never even put the game in, started it up, and just had a look at it? Who does that?
Sorry (I’m not really sorry, it’s just a figure of speech), but if If that’s really what happened, and you miss out on the “bonus” content as a result, then you have nobody to blame but yourselves.

Especially since some people had it worse than others, there would be no reason to not try to play the game.

They need to be more specific on who is eligible for what. One sentence makes it sound like only people who play multiplayer will get the extra month of live and the nameplate, then another sentence makes it sound like if you’ve played the game at all…single or multi will get both content.

I’m erring on the side that multiplayer gamers will get both the extra month/nameplate/avatar and ODST where if you’ve played single player only, you’ll still get ODST but not the other stuff.

which is funny because the save progress bug didn’t appear until a content update which addressed multiplayer issues went live. So campaign only players have been affected by multiplayer issues as well.

It just depends on how they’re defining online players. I have to go online to get these content updates regardless of what mode I play.

I think they intentionally use vague language just to create more controversy.

Well, seeing as how they can tell exactly what you’re playing as long as you’re actually connected to xbox live, then everybody who ever even started the game up and looked through the menu’s during the time period specified should be covered.

I was studying for school 8)

I’ve been putting up with this broken game since day one, how do you claim are free stuff?

I mean I fully accept it’s my fault, and I’ll probably buy odst because I love it. I’m just honestly happy that it’s being ported. I bought the game day one online, but I was in Europe so haven’t gotten a chance to play it yet. Just annoying that I payed full price.

It takes 5 minutes to turn the console on, start the game up and have a quick look around in the menus.

why would he/she have done that if they had no time to play? We didn’t know about these incentives until too late

Exactly this. I wasn’t about to waste my time searching for a match to play for a few hours when I had homework to do. I wouldn’t want to root around in the menus either. I redeemed my Halo Channel code and that was it, just hoping that was enough.

when will we get our free points

No. It takes 5 minutes to turn the console on. Then several hours to install, then a few more hours to download the initial patch. Then wishful thinking.

Same here, purchased on 21 November, have not installed or played due to the widely reported issues with MP and didn’t want to have the experience spoilt. I saw the news on Saturday 20th in the morning and it was too late to install and play to be “eligible”. What about us 343?! I can provide proof of purchase. I’ve talked to xbox support who were very good and appreciate the position but advised to post on here.

> Me: Had I installed and had a quick play, I would qualify but I have been waiting and reading reports online, waiting for the MP to be considered playable with little fault (I accept some issues are inevitable and have played many online games)

> Xbox support: I see, well this is actually good question/inquiry Luke. Currently what 343 informed us and everyone is if you have played and logged in through that certain time frame. What we don’t know yet if there will be some exception for the one’s who purchased it but haven’t played at all. I can check this out with my superior but we might not have some answers for it as of the moment since this is coming from 343. Can you provide me 2-3 minutes?
>
> Xbox support: I checked this out with my superior and that is the eligibility coming from 343 directly, so here in our end we won’t be able to do about since they’re the one’s who made the game. And it’s clearly stated there that it’s for only the players who played online. What we can suggest though is to post through Halo support forums instead. Because only 343 can make some exceptions in this case.

WO WO WO… I played the first level of campaign, didn’t get the achievement, so i stopped playing and came to the forums to see whats up, i read numerous threads about issues with the campaign/multiplayer so i just took the game out and have been waiting for it to be fixed before i played it again, while putting the game back in every couple of days to see if the achievement had unlocked. What does this “players who played online” mean? Does that mean that you had to be signed on? does that mean you must of tried to play a multiplayer match? if this is the case, im going to be incredibly upset.

man. Xbox Live support is probably so sick of complaints about MCC issues.

I would be too.

I don’t think there’s much ambiguity here. “Logged activity via Xbox Live” probably does include just being in the menu, but if you haven’t played campaign/matchmaking at all how can you justify deserving the free content? “I was waiting for the game to be fixed and didn’t want to waste my time” is fine, but then you weren’t subjected to the problems of this game and you aren’t entitled to anything other than the game you paid for being fully functional in my opinion.

The thing is, if there weren’t problems (and there shouldn’t have been), then I’d have been sinking hours in to the MP. But from hearing friend’s experiences, seeing videos of these games in a broken state and the wide news coverage, I’ve waited it out. I don’t see how I am not deserving. I shouldn’t have to encounter a crap mp game/sp glitches to get the compensation. Equally, many people may not have had a bad experience playing online but they’re going to get it. Like I say, I have proof of purchase, I’m not trying to get something for nothing and just bought it, I’ve been waiting for it to be fixed and saw the news too late. I don’t think that’s fair. If they’d announced this with some breathing space of a couple of days, I’d have installed and logged on…
