Am I allowed to upload Halo: Reach footage to YouTube?

I know it is a silly question at first glance, but YouTube recently granted me to “monetize” my videos. This is synonymous with being a partner, except on specific videos. However, I need proof of rights that do not prohibit me from displaying content on YouTube. Does anyone know where I can access this? Keeping in mind that Bungie no longer owns Halo. Also, if you wanted to see my channel and my videos, you can view them right here: http://www.youtube.com/user/deviIstudios

Thanks ahead of time to anyone that can or attempts to help me.

Yes…?

I was hoping for a link to a page containing Terms & Conditions that I could copy/paste to the form on YouTube, thanks though.

Behold.

You can post it but you’re not allowed to collect youtube monetization on them.

Kind of sucks because I got offered it about a month ago and I have almost 150,000 views on my videos but they’re almost all Halo

Here are the monetization rules they sent me:

> What types of videos are eligible?
>
> The basic guidelines are simple: for a video to be eligible, you must own worldwide distribution rights to everything in the video and it must abide by our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.
>
> This means you have created everything in your video yourself, and that you have not sold exclusive commercial usage rights to anyone else. If your video contains content created by someone else, you must have their written permission to use and make money from it.
> Examples of videos that could be eligible
>
> You filmed your cat, and there is no background music.
> Your video contains royalty-free music, and you can prove commercial rights by using direct links to the song and applicable licence.
> Your friend’s band wrote and recorded a song for your video and states in writing that you can use and make money from it.
>
> Which videos are NOT eligible?
>
> Your video is not eligible if it contains content that you didn’t create or get permission from its creator to use. You need to be able to show written permission for the following video elements:
>
> Audio: recorded music, live performances, cover songs, background music, etc.
> Visuals: images, logos, software, video game footage, etc.
> Any other content to which you don’t own worldwide commercial usage rights.
>
> Examples of videos that are NOT eligible
>
> Your video contains a song you purchased for personal use (e.g. bought on iTunes or in a shop) but didn’t obtain a commercial licence.
> You found a video on the Internet and you cannot prove that it’s in the public domain.
> You are only singing words of your favourite copyrighted song
> You haven’t yet received a copyright notice on your video
> You edit together or “mash-up” other works
> You only use 30 seconds of a song or video clip
> Your video does not provide proper attribution or credits as required by a licence.

That’s strange, there are so many PARTNERED channels that upload Halo footage…

Yes but they actually have permission directly from Bungie… they might have to get re-approved with 343 in charge or they might have just automatically switched over.

Either that or they just accepted partnership but chose to not collect on the videos with Halo footage. I was considering doing that as well but the non-footage videos of mine only have a few hundred views so it’s not even worth it.

Do you suggest I attempt to receive permission from 343? This video also expands on the topic for instructional videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZaLZ4Y64FE&feature=player_embedded

I would suggest trying to join the Machinima network. They handle all the royalties and legal stuff with Microsoft so they don’t have to deal with 1,000 different random people asking for permission all the time. There’s really no chance that 343/MS would even bother with you just by yourself.

This is how most of the big Halo partners do it.

Yeah, the only issue would be if you started making profit off of Microsoft’s products. As the user above me has said, attempt to join a group that does have permission. That’ll ensure that you can dish out your content without fear.

I’ve considered that, however Machinima Respawn no longer accepts applicants to my knowledge.

Wow, I’ve been offered by two different organisations but I kind of ignored it. Maybe I should reconsider.
