So I played an oddball game yesterday which started 3v4, so almost immediately we decide to stand back and let the enemy team have it. And out of one guy, all of the enemy team start to hunt us down like a bunch of maniacs. Why? I get if it’s a slayer match and you need to actually get kills to win, but in the other modes there’s no need to sweat that much. I wonder what satisfaction you get to kill someone who doesn’t fight back. I know it’s a small detail, but remember that on the other side of your monitor there is someone who’s trying to enjoy the game as much as you do.
Yeah, this seems to be only a thing in Onyx. Where the team of 3 let the team of 4 win to get it over with. But in social or lower ranked, people don’t seem to get this etiquette. Or they take advantage of the situation to get their weekly challenges over with.
I think it also has to do with how ranked works. You rank up more if you have a good KDA in that match, so they will just hunt them down to rank up more. In Onyx that has less use, since they already have the highest rank, so they don’t have as much problems with letting the enemy alone and just focus on the objective.
I like knowing that even if I am stomping the enemy team I never t eabag or purposely try to be harassing - but sadly if I get into a JIP match where the enemy is dominating they always hound, -Yoink!- and act like a bunch of imbeciles - no honour, no respect - be humble bois.
As kills/score per minute is a factor in your rank, you’re actually better off getting the game over as soon as possible in ranked. I had a game where it was 4v1 Oddball against me and I just jumped in the middle of the map over and over. They kept killing me until after about 8 deaths then they joined me and we practiced some jumps one after another.
In social I’d argue it could go either way, can be fun to still play the game a little, especially if the enemy don’t respect you not killing them. But yeah when it’s 3v4 the game has already been ended really so might as well get it over asap. Annoying in flag when someone tries to kill the runner near the cap to return it. Like bro, just stop. You’re going to lose, stop elongating the game.
Sure, but in my experience winning a 4v3 doesn’t rank you up that much, even with a hig K/D. I actually always try to play a 3v4 even if it’s really difficult (not impossible) to keep up, but this time we agreed in the chat to stand back, so we tried to be friendly.
He’s probably chasing his challenges. Who cares about the oddball when you need to get 10 kills with the commando.
Lol if all three of my enemies on the team just stood there I’d turn it into a slay fest as well.
I’ve asked this in another thread - but what is the etiquette around this type of thing?
I was losing a game of attrition a few weeks ago with a couple of obviously inexperienced teammates. The enemy team you could tell was a full team of high ranked try hards. They were tea bagging like crazy the entire match and acting like general dbags.
At the end they started a tea bagging frenzy on top of my revive ball. We got stuck in the glitch where everyone was down but the game didn’t finish. I laughed my butt off when the ring closed in on them, killing them and giving us the victory. I’ll chalk that one up to karma.
If you play 3v4, chances of losing the game is super high. So to get the game over with as soon as possible, the people on the team of 3 just let the team of 4 hold the oddball, capture 5 flags or capture 3 zones and let the timer run out asap. I don’t know how it works in slayer. You can still win 3v4 slayer and nobody likes to go 0.1 kd in a match.
Thanks. Makes sense to me.
I had a stronghold match yesterday that started with us down a player. We ended up winning (at some point it became a 3v2 for us) and I lost CSR. Wish that one had ended quickly instead.
