Always Online?

So we know Infinite will have both multiplayer and campaign, but will we have to deal with always online like Halo 5’s multiplayer was? Having split-screen puts my mind slightly at ease suggesting that it will not be, but what does everyone think? (Obviously campaign can’t be)

no i highly doubt it will always be online otherwise whats the point in bringing split screen back

It depends how it’s designed. If it’s a GAAS (games as a service) then it will probably be always online. My opinion, and mine alone is that the majority of it will require online, most games are heading that way, and if Halo Infinite has daily weekly challenges you’ll need to connect. It won’t bother me I’m never offline anyway, I’m always connected to XBL when gaming but I appreciate some players want offline.

I hope it’s not, i don’t want another ghost recon breakpoint situation. Online should be for MP only, not SP.

I don’t think Infinite will be “always online” in the same way Destiny is.

Im sure there are features for online play that will be unavailable for offline players. For example daily/weekly challenges etc.

I’m sure you’ll still have access to Campaign, custom games, forge etc without having to connect online

I believe XSX is going to have legit LAN capabilities so I would think there’ll be offline options, not the server based stuff that H5 had.

i agree especially with campaign and them “having a spiritual reboot”

I don’t know about Forge…you need to be online to Forge in H5. I would assume Infinite will be the same.

Do you really? That seems so weird to me.
Ive never really been offline so I’ve never noticed/

I wonder why that’s the case?

Yes, forge requires an internet connection, the only part playable offline in Halo 5 is campaign. I think Halo Infinite will be the same tbh.

locking forge away in mp was part of the reason h5 was not well received.

lack of split screen
no lan / offline 1v1 mp
online forge

I hope to not, i mean in every other game you could play multiplayer offline, why in halo 5 not ? You can’t even custom your spartan.

i doubt you’ll have to be online all the time, especially with split screen coming back
