I am not going to rant here about how micro transactions ruin Halo or anything like that. I just want to hear some good ideas that could replace the RNG system that we have now because I, and many others, don’t see it working for Halo 5. The REQ system caused Halo 5 to have an overabundance of horribly designed armors and way too many visors, weapons and vehicles. About 75% of the entire REQ inventory simply exists as filler that nobody really uses. 343 purposefully did this to make it harder to obtain the high level REQ’s that most players really want.
This however is a waste of resources for 343 and a waste of time for the player. 343’s designers probably had to design around 200 different REQ items to fill up that inventory to the point where you would need a proper grind to reach the Legendary REQ’s. That time designing ‘armors’ like SEEKER and PIONEER and all those variants is wasted because they’re just filler to stop you from getting armors like HELLJUMPER and MARK VI right away. And the players waste time grinding endlessly and constantly unlocking things they don’t really want. A slot machine unlock system is just not the way to go.
Is there any idea for an unlock system that is both micro transaction AND player friendly?
