I know I am not the first to say this…but the Sniper rifle in the Halo 4 beta is fffuuuuggllyy.
Or should I say in fact the scope is; when I first saw the Sniper from the side I was actually pretty impressed. On a whole I actually think Halo 4’s Design artists have done an excellent job from what I have seen and the weapon design is in my opinion amongst the best I have seen in Halo thus far BUT…
First off that scope is pretty dam big, secondly it just looks a bit silly cantilevered over to one side and it obscures far too much of the screen. I can see that the aim was to incorporate an optical scope but truly… Why? Spartan zoom in with the sniper via their visor and actually I could see some benefits from having a digital display over an optical scope like not needing to line your eye up with the eye piece to aim for example.

Chief’s armor is not overbuilt crap, nor is the Warthog’s interior, that’s too far. I agree with you on the sniper, but that’s it, the rest of the stuff is just more detailed, not overbuilt.

Less = more. Actually compare H3 Mark VI to 343i and it is overbuilt.

If by overbuilt you mean more detailed, then yes. That is what happens with graphical updates.

This. They really need to change this. Your design is awesome, by the way, and there should definitely be something like it in the game. I feel the sound of the actual weapon is not really a powerful sound for a sniper rifle. They should just make it similar to previous Halo games.
Canon wise, how can the sound of a weapon suddenly change? I don’t understand why they’re changing things for no reason. Just like the needler sounds really different than previous Halo games, it’s strange. If it’s not broken, don’t fix it.

I think you may have a nostalgic problem nite. It’s not junk or over built. Halo 3 chief is just simple and plain if that’s how you like it. 343 chief is great improvement. Sure, it looked crappy when they first started leaking the toy figurines, but its grown on me since the First look video, which he truly looked beast in.
I’m actually a fan of the halo 4 sniper. Since it’s a powerful weapon it kinda makes sense for it to be bulky. Not only that, but it makes it stand out more so that others can see it easier.
Trust me, you guys will adapt.
