Alternate Universes/Timelines(Multiverse Theory)

In Halo there has been a couple uses of time travel, and mentions of Alternate Universes, I say they might be a Halo Multiverse.
Now this thread is to discuss the possibility that we seen it already. As said this is possibilities not 100%. But regardless lets start with

Fact
In Halo Silentium the Librarian thinks the following before she leaves Requiem. Talking about vacuum energy.

This confirms that
A) There is alternative Universes.
B) The Forerunners “abort” many of these to fuel their creations using vacuum energy. Rick and Morty say it pretty much almost perfect. So here is a link to a clip. But instead of slavery, its the alternate universes life that fuel the Forerunners technology. Pretty sad if you ask me.

Theory
So there is alternative Universes. How does this play into the modern Halo Universe. (Note now we go into theory territory now) Well we can look at the two times Halo has went into the time travel.

First Strike
If we look at First Strike time-travel happen when the Artifact on Reach was recovered, causing a Slip-space Anomaly. Halsey says it best below.

Pretty much though the Anomaly started on September 7th when Halsey and then Red team, found the artifact on Reach.
That took the Survivors of Installation 04, who were at September 23rd back to around that time also.
Only to make it back to normal Space around September 12.
So this is a 11 day discrepancy.

Now there is two ways we can think what happened.

Either
A) The loop way. When the Installation 04 survivors intersected with the Reach Artifact sending them back in time. They stayed in the same universe/timeline. Simple as. There will be 2 copies of the Installation 04 survivors till the younger group of them intersects with the Reach Artifact causing the loop to continue.

B) The timeline jump way. When the Installation 04 survivors intersected with the Reach Artifact sending them back in time. They could of left their universe/timeline(which I will dub Alpha for this section) into one where they arrive at Reach in time(which I will dub Beta). Causing the Alpha timeline they left to have no Halsey and the then current Red team(as they would die on Reach), and the Installation 04 survivors to simply vanish as they changed timelines. Scary thought for that Alpha timeline without them all in it. Though continuing on with B a lil longer, the timeline/universe turns similar to A where there is with 2 copies of the Installation 04 survivors till they timeline jump out of Beta and into Gamma and so on and so on.

Though there is no way for us to prove if it was a simple loop or timeline jumping that happened. As while there is a 11 day discrepancy. Nothing can prove anything. This is only to show two possible ways the time travel could of happened.

I Love Bees
This has the biggest time-jump throughout Halo, 2552 to 2004(548 years discrepancy). Pretty much, this time due to an artifact the UNSC Apocalypso picks up and activates, fragments of the ships AI Melissa are sent back in time.

Like before, this could go like First strike where there is two ways it could go, a loop or timeline jump. The loop way is simple. AI goes back in time, we help her, she goes back to her original timeline.

While there is a way for the timeline jumping to make big sense this time. Actually explaining a lot of things that could be seen as mistakes.
To explain. The timeline that originally sent the Melissa fragments back in time was similar to the Halo Universe we know, just with stuff in it being slightly different. Like when Tobias Fleming Shaw and Wallace Fujikawa were alive.

The only things that will remember this is the 2004 fragments that get sent back, and the fragments sent to 2552(which I will call “2552 fragments”).

Cause of the presence of the fragments sent back to 2004 they change the past in small ways. and are the only things that remember the original timeline. The link that the 2004 Melissa fragments had in ILB’s to the 2552 fragments was a link to the changed timeline, similar enough to the original timeline for Melissa not to notice the changes due to her Rampancy.(this could be a very effective way to explain the errors ILB’s made. Outside the fact that Melissa was broken and Rampant). I mean enough like the only changes is minor like the example above.

The diagram below is how the timeline jump would work. The red coloured line being the link and way the Fragments use to get back to 2552.

So due to the continuity errors in ILB’s this is a very possible way for it to go. Just we have no confirmation. So again this is like First Strike and we cant prove anything.

Conclusion
While we cant prove a thing. This was to show that there is a possibility of a Halo Multiverse. We might of seen hints of. While currently we follow only one timeline. If the timeline jumps did happen, the timeline we follow right now is very special as it took an AI going back in time, and our timeline being lucky enough not to be the one where we lost John-117 and co.

Plus this doesnt account for the alternative version of the the Scarab attack that the Halo: Evolutions story Palace Hotel tells. Or the actual possibility of Nicole-458 and Nassau station being sent back in time with the Melissa fragments also(the latter is unlikely but still possible)

Damn it guys. When I finally thought I had an idea of what was going on in the Halo Universe and where it is going… I think the real question here is, will 343 Industries continue with this same train of thought?

Now I grew up on Halo, and absolutely love bungie’s work. But I am very happy with what 343 is doing also. In fact, the only thing I really miss about the Bungie days is all the weird cryptic stuff they used to include in the games. That scene from two betrayals where 343 Guilty Spark talk to the Chief, and the revelation of what that really means revealed in the Forerunner Trilogy was astounding.

The only real problem I have with 343 Industries is that they don’t seem to be planting any seeds like Bungie used to. I make that claim based on the fact that there are no weird cryptic messages. While Productions like hunt the truth offered incredibly complex twists to excellent stories, 343 Guilty Spark’s statement to the chief being fully expanded on in Halo 4 makes Halo 4 all the more greater, as it clearly isn’t a story that was just made up out of thin air. The seeds were planted long ago. (Nod to ghost buddy).

Where are the cryptic messages now???

This post makes me kind of sad honestly. I am the second respondent, in 5 months! And I’m not offering too much in the way of content. Right now I am going through several links that ghostbuddy supplied, (and am hoping to make my way through the marathon series in the next few months). Some of those links are very detailed forum conversations on abstract poetry from marathon. We don’t have conversations like that on these forums now. Sure, some of these conversations are intriguing, but not so mysterious.

OP, you bring up several good points. I had never heard of “i love bees” before and will see what all I can learn from that, rereread first strike and respond
