No. Halo was always slower, more tactical, and more deliberate. COD was more run and gun. I like the skill required for Halo. More challenging. There is a huge reason why I no longer play COD, but am always interested in some Halo. Making Halo more like COD will just accelerate the death of this franchise imho.

This was not the point of my thread at all. I’m saying should halo alternate games between classic no sprint gameplay and modern Spartan ability gameplay.

Nah. Not only will it be awakward. But it will completely damage the canon parts of campaign.

Maybe after the next 2 games. But not every 2nd game
Would 343 develop it or would another developer team up with them? I wouldn’t really look forward to what 343 can make in less than three years with how Halo 5 is going.
No. Trying to emulate CoD has been the main problem with Halo since Reach. They’re two different games. Halo should stay Halo. No loadouts, no classes, everyone stays equal and the best man wins.
edit - it wouldn’t bother me at all if they removed Warzone from the game entirely and left nothing but the Arena. To me, Warzone isn’t real Halo any more than Reach or 4 were.
The only reason CoD does this is because they have 2 (Now 3) studios developing games for the franchise, rotating out for yearly releases. Each studio has their own story campaign and take on the franchise.

COD didn’t really alternate anything besides the storyline and skins on the maps… Having played all since MW2, unless you are referring to kill streaks, settings, plot line, or map skins, I don’t see anything alternating with COD. Was always run and gun with the same basic movements. So I read your post, and yes, I understood it. However, as far as alternating between abilities and non-abilities in game types, I don’t see this really doing anything. Wouldn’t keep much fresh, and I do agree with the other poster that the impact to campaign would probably trash some of the series canon. Just as a head’s up, I apologize if this comes across as being a jerk…I am just very tired and in a hurry to get laundry done

i completely agree with you…But at this point Halo is a dying series. Everyone has been saying “oh well the next game will change and be better”. It just hasn’t happened. I honestly wouldn’t mind if they alternated between classic gameplay and modern gameplay. They could further develop/go into more depth on campaign

Well guns obviously changed between World War 1 and Advance Warfare no? Between bolt shot weapons and automatics?

Yes, but just having Halo alternate between the Plasma Launcher and Plasma Caster wouldn’t be enough to really change things up much for me. At least, not enough to really make it fresh. I see where you are wanting to go with this post. I just don’t think it can save this franchise… Quality storytelling and maintaining the core gameplay can help, but I fear we are just getting burned out on the Halo lore and franchise as a whole… That is obviously just my opinion though. I don’t know what can really be done to save it…

Lol I don’t know what they can do either. I grew up playing Halo CE-H3. Once reach and beyond came out I went from playing 4-5 times a week to maybe once every other week. I know change is going to happen, but wish it didn’t change this drastic.
Things what I would say:
Halo 1.5
-no sprint
-classic weapons
-no armor abilities
-mix between Halo 1 and Halo 2
Halo 6
-sprint
-abilities
-whatever you want to make it “modern next gen shooter”
so not only would there not be plasma casters, but you’d have the original player movement speed, non elongated map design etc. We haven’t had a classic feeling halo for amount 10 years now, it might feel fresh if it was done.

You failed to read. I never said I wanted to play cod or that halo doesn’t take as much skill as COD. I am saying should they alternate between “classic” halo and modernized next gen Halo.

I honestly think Arena in Halo 5 is the perfect “modern” Halo. I’m really happy with the direction the competitive side of the franchise is going.
You mean should Halo rip off a far better, underappreciated game? Seems to have worked for Call of Duty. They reskinned Titanfall, took out the best part of the game, and made big bucks.
cod campaigns are independent of each other, however the mp system mechanics and gameplay always build and iterate on its predecessors. Advance warfare introduced exos, then bops3 continued that and added wall running and the ability to always shot.
