So basically the higher your trueskill goes, the more “competitive” your voting options become.
For example, once you pass a certain trueskill threshold in Team Slayer, the weighting of BR starts will be slightly raised. The higher your trueskill goes, the more often BR Slayer will appear as a voting option.
Thoughts?

> I don’t think that your choice would weigh more than someone else’s. I think you missed the point. You still get matched up against similarly skilled players. The weighting on BR/DMR and AR starts would be normal for the lower Truskill players, so the voting options would show up about the same amount. Once you get past a certain point, you will find there to be more voting options for BR/DMR starts instead of AR starts.

Because the BR took SO much skill… It was just a strong general purpose weapon. Took the LEAST skill IMO. Weaker weapons take more skill.

I guess you could say that it requires more skill to kill someone with a plasma pistol than it does to kill them with a BR, but that’s not really the point. BR starts promote the most competitive gameplay. Plasma Pistol starts do not.
I just prefer Halo 2’s Ranking System over Halo 3’s. I thought it was better at pairing you up against players of similar skill consistently and (not counting the modders) getting a 50 wasn’t something you could really get. There was also room to improve and grow as a player, whereas with TrueSkill many people got locked into a level. You could break out of that lock, but you had to win a decent amount of games to do so.
OT: Everyone should have an equal say in the game, just because you play more or are better than someone doesn’t mean your choice should weigh more than someone else’s.

Trueskill =/= 1-50

That’s not what I’m suggesting. In a match full of players with a very high trueskill, the chance that AR starts would show up as a voting option would be a little higher than zero. In a match full of players with average trueskill, the weightings between AR and BR starts would be about equal. One player’s vote does not count more than another’s. The higher skilled players just get BR starts more often.

The BR objectively takes more skill than the AR. There is no argument there. You have to physically aim more accurately. Fully auto random spread weapons will never take as much skill as precision weapons. And don’t even start on the whole “you had to burst fire” argument, because guess how much hand-eye coordination and dexterity it takes to pump the trigger. Zero.

Same. The way I think of it, the game is just that much more dynamic and deep.

But only for those that prefer those kinds of matches.
This is a novel idea, but one that should never be used.
I would much prefer that the game track voting preferences by map and gametype and weight options that way. Then you team up with players of similar preference and the game offers choices along those preferences.

Not really what I intended, but sure whatever. I was just operating under the premise that good players are more likely to like BR starts than bad-average players are.
