Nearing the release of Halo 5, not many in-game ideas are still eligible for implementation, but there’s a simple one I think could be great and really enrich gameplay, that could likely still be put in or even after launch, and I don’t find many people mentioning it: alternate multiplayer voice.
Very simply, like Halo reach’s Firefight voices, I would absolutely love the ability to customize our Spartan chatter so that they all don’t sound exactly the same.
It would be an easy way to make up for some of the lack of Spartan customization, make your character feel more your own, and make the multiplayer matches feel all the more fun, laid-back, and enjoyable like Halo always has been.
As someone mentioned in the forums quite some time back, one nice option would be to have a few preset voices with some varied personality so the Spartan feels personal.
But on top of that default option, I would like unlockable voices like in Reach, to swap out your voiceactor for fun, hilarious, and recognizable characters!
My biggest wish here would be the inclusion of Rooster Teeth. Countless members of the Halo community are nostalgic Rooster Teeth fans, and Red vs Blue characters are known for their brilliant delivery of gut-bustingly hilarious lines. Imagine dying with Grif’s voice selected and hearing, “I’m too good-looking to die!”, hearing Vic say, “Yo, you might want to reload, dude.”, saying “Right now is not nap-time.” as Caboose when you kill a player, or hearing a nearby Tucker complain when another team mate picks up a sniper rifle. It would be hilarious.
It seems like a relatively easy task for 343, and I’d even be happy to see it come later (heck, I won’t even be playing the game until later, after a price-drop since there’s no split-screen). What do you guys think?
That honestly would be pretty cool. Though I’m not all that sure how much the chatter has been toned down since the beta, given that it is one tweak they have made.
I would 100% like to see this. Give us like 2-3 options per gender by default, then have the legendary ones in REQ packs: Johnson, Cortana, all the Spartans but Palmer (since she’s announcer in Warzone) Arby n’ the Chief would be fun too.
Although, for that matter, having “Announcer” packs would be pretty cool, too. Call it an ‘AI’ pack and have Cortana, BB, Roland, etc. provide commentary. It’d give 343i the option to create their own unique AI announcers with any sort of theme they liked, too.
Back on Topic: I really didn’t like the way the Spartans sounded in the Beta, and it’s pretty grating to dislike the voice that is ‘you’ in the game. Would love to be able to change it, even without the option for any of the legendary voices, just something a little less try-hard and more self-assured.
I was thinking about this during the beta. It’s too perfect to not happen. It adds a little bit of extra customization and immersion, at no cost to gameplay and limited cost to resources.

I can agree to this. As funny as I would find it to be talking like MC from ‘Arby n the Chief’, I wouldn’t want to do so at the cost of somebody else’s enjoyment/immersion.
All serious voices would be fine by me; I just don’t want my Spartan to talk like a 15 year old try-hard, wannabe clan-member -yoink- like they sounded in the beta.
If they did announcer packs, they could open those up to the less serious voices, since those would only impact the player who had it enabled.
That would be awesome.
I think it would be weird to have voices of characters from halo though
I don’t want to hear chatter from 4 other Johnsons on my team

Yeah, and I didn’t even think of Arby & The Chief but they would definitely be fun as well. When it comes to multiplayer announcer, I do like options, so why not? It’d be fun to try it out. I might like to try Master Chief or Johnson, but personally I would probably stick with Jeff Steitzer because he does it so epic-ly perfect.
I actually asked Josh during the Beta if there would be other voice options other than Generic white male and Generic white female but I got no response.

I want Rtas to be an announcer, that would be awesome.
