Alright I get it now

Bottom line is that Microsoft, and by extension, 343, are cutthroat corporations with really poor leadership in the Xbox division and its subsidiaries. They did this to avoid having to hire full time employees and pay them benefits etc. So while I don’t have any animosity toward any rank and file developers at 343, and you can absolutely tell that there are people who love and take care in what they do, 343 does this kind of thing to themselves. They’re just INCREDIBLY lucky that there apparently is enough talent there to barely stitch things together for them and end up creating a pretty commendable multiplayer and campaign in terms of core gameplay.

Damn bro, how does it feel to be apart of the 1% on these forums?

Manuel labor is not as dependant on the individuals own ability as it is in game design and coding.

Feels good and terrible all at once.

So this game suffered/suffers from what many other games during development time suffer. Games like Anthem, Mass Effect Andromeda and Cyberpunk 2077…incompetent project management. You can have talented devs, but if people who lead the project aren’t up to task, result is unlikely to be good. That’s why PC version is so unoptimized and the game looks dated in many ways even after being postponed for a year.
Maybe the next game will be better. They had to make the game and the new engine it runs on. So hopefully next project will come sooner with engine being here and development time gets handled better.
Also console market is a mess now with mid gen refreshes. The game had to be made for XBOX One, XBOX One X, XBOX Series S, Series X and PC. I’m sure it would of turned up a lot better if dev team had only one system to focus on like back when Bungie was handling the project.

What do you mean? I think you have a very poor view on coding and design…

show me a game coded in purley Java that you’ve made that works flawlessly even though it’s a 2d game and then come back to me.

Bro I don’t know if we’re getting another Halo game. I mean maybe, I haven’t played the campaign yet because money but if they’re planning on supporting this multiplayer for 10 years (supposedly) then if more story stuff comes out it will probably be grouped in with Infinite’s platform. But it is definitely not ready for that. If you saw the HCS footage this weekend you’d know it couldn’t stop crashing and ruining matches. The engine and netcode are just too unstable.
Having contractors is fine, as you said it all comes down to management and organization. What I’m saying is that because they were disorganized and unable to stay on top of everything in management, having contractors resulted in a ton of misdevelopment.
