Alright, I know why you guys have removed the Aim Assist from Halo Infinite and it’s to appease the crybaby PC Players who can’t compete with Controller. This lack of Aim Assist benefits PC Players more then Console players. Now I am in the camp of pro Aim Assist and know people on the other side of the isle will want aim assist to stay removed. So how about this. To satisfy everyone, have an option to turn on and off the aim assist with a slider adjusting the severity of the aim assist. That’s the best compromise I can think of.
“Cry baby pc players.” Or people who want to actually die to skill and not an aim bot doing all the work for them. I’m sorry but as someone who grew up on controller and hit the top ranks in halo 5, controller literally takes no skill at all since aa does almost all of the tracking for you which is the biggest type of aiming in halo.

It’s there and exists because controllers need it to function and that’s fine. But the problems start when entering a Esports/competitive level because now, you have to add in an aim bot to compensate for the fact that the controller is just a -Yoink- input method compared to mnk.
-if you need the game to aim for you to keep up vs other input methods your input method is fundamentally flawed and shouldn’t be catered to outside of casual modes

Yeah cause you can put a monkey on a controller and it could beat an average mnk player

So if the stats for aim are pretty comparable across both, wouldn’t that show the inputs are fairly balanced? They’ve already said they will accept either at tournament so we will see from that very first one if one is overpoweringly stronger. If noone on controller can compete with kbm then it definitely needs to be changed as the game won’t be satisfying to play.

I could consistently hit the top 2% of players in Halo 5 on controller and on mcc whenever I use controller I can just turn my brain off and know I will win 90% of my gun fights vs a mnk player because AA will do all the tracking for me, I really don’t understand how people -Yoink- and complain about mnk in halo when controller players are almost always on top

More likely than not halo will still be dominated by controller and mnk will be 1% of pro play at best. You can never “balance” aim assist and that just further proves why you shouldn’t have cross input.
A MnK player has to be objectively better at aiming to beat a player using a controller, thus over time younger players who are gods on MnK will smack all the controller players and then they will complain and say they need even more aim assist to keep up. Which then means the MnK players need to become even better at aiming to actually keep up thus repeating the loop.
Notice how one input requires you getting better to beat the other while one require the game doing more of the aim for you to be better.

It’s easier to achieve that level on PC though because you get significantly more control. The aim assist helps to simulate that level of control, the slowdown especially. With controller of course it is harder to aim, you are using a little stick and can’t stop it as accurately or make tiny adjustments as easily.
The tools are so different, of course they will never be equal but it’s completely removed as a bad controller player will also struggle with or without aim assist. It only helps to a point.

I’ve never said remove AA, the inputs should stay separate in every level of play outside of casual play if not the game will legit die on Pc like the mcc did. The reason why Summit quit halo when it was coming out on pc in 2019 was because it literally felt impossible to play the game on MnK since controller players would perfectly 5 shot with ease.
The game is just boring when I know I can just plug in a controller and let AA do almost all of the tracking for me instead of having improve that style of Aim.

I guess you’re right, as long as it doesn’t discourage the casual fans I’m okay with any decision.
I like your idea its always better to give players as many options as possible, If they want crossplay to be a success they defienitly need to change the aim assist on console as now its to far the other way where keyboard and mouse has the advantage over controller
MnK should always have the advantage, it’s much harder to master. I for one will be plugging in my razer turret to the Series X. At least it’s always an option on Xbox.

Did they actually remove aim assist for the controller players?? That’s messed up. 343 really should understand how important AA is for Console/Controller players.
I hope you guys get an aim assist that feels good to play… and doesn’t turn you controller peeps into Terminator -Yoink- mfs lol
(your aim assist slider idea sounds pretty reasonable)

Yeah, I’ve played this flight and hype last one and aim assist it totally removed. But glad you like my idea. I think it’s the best compromise.

Nobody should have an advantage in a game that’s suppose to be fair. If I’m constantly losing fights cause the KnM players are being me 24/7. I think I my Idea for an option to turn it off and on with a slider is best of both worlds that way those with MnK can have aim assist too if they wanted and keep things fair.

Nothing would drive me away from the multiplayer more then to always be beaten by a Mouse and Keyboard player.
Overwatch did something that should be emulated. Keep console and PC separate. If a console player wants to play with their PC friends then it removes aim assist, if players on console want a nicer feel then they remain facing console players. MnK used in a console game would not receive any aim assist either. In off-peak hours console players can choose to search crossplay knowing they wont have aim assist.
This way console players don’t have the console Halo experience thrown out the window entirely in favour of PC gameplay and PC players don’t have to face players who have aim assist, while the ability for crossplay remains intact.
If more quality of life settings were introduced then custom games could have an option that allows them to retain aim assist when playing with friends on PC.
Sure it’s more work for 343 but without a change i see quite a radical player retention problem for console (and a lesser extent PC) players despite the game being free.
