So Last Spartan Standing sucks (in my opinion). It sucks even more then it did before (in my opinion). I have seen that some others agree with me. I have seen the response to this follow along the lines of ‘just wait till next week, you don’t have to play it, no one is forcing you to play it’. This would be totally fine if the challenges for the event weren’t taking the place of other challenges in my challenge list.
See, the reason why that is a problem is because I paid for the battlepass, and now my ability to progress through it is being gated by content outside of that purchase. This event actively gets in the way of me interacting with a product the way it was advised to me that I would be able to interact with it (if that makes sense?).
So let’s address those responses I mentioned above a bit more directly.
‘just wait till next week, you don’t have to play it’
I shouldn’t have to wait till next week for me to be able to interact with the battlepass as it was advertised.
’ you don’t have to play it, no one is forcing you to play it’
I do have to play it if I want to interact with the product I paid for. And 343 is the one forcing me to do that with their baffling design/approach to these systems.
I dunno if this makes much sense, but please stop responding with those types of shill replies. This event is harmful to paid content within the game and that IS a problem.
I finished the Battle pass in a little over a month, only playing about a little over an hour a day and using the exp boosts I had never used from the first pass. At most, I would earn around 3000 exp a day (exp booster effects the bonus points you earn from the play challenges at the start of every new day ), so all I earned was a mere 1500 extra points using the exp boosts. Then you take into effect that this pass is suppose to last 6 months. Relax, you’ll live, and get the battle pass done even if you skip events and challenges altogether.
So I honestly don’t see this argument holding much weight. The only real arguments that holds any real water is if you want the event items without doing the event, which I honestly see as rather rubbish with how easy the event challenges even are outside of one, and you only need to do half of them to earn all 10 items anyway. I mean, if they were harder and ier challenges then yeah, I could see an argument. The other being you want the clippy weapon charm, which is the weekly challenge.
Personally, I have more issue with the video that opens up when you go to start the event. Felt more like filler more then anything. Like, how does the Spartan telling me she wants me to try more free for all, with the only looking out for me is myself, add anything plot wise to the story?
I live in Australia mate. In an hour I get so few matches, and none of them are below 180 ping.
And how long the battlepass is supposed to last means nothing in the face of a system that obstructs my ability to interact with paid content. That’s the issue here; I’m forced to play a sepcific way for a week to be able to actually engage with a product I purchased. It’s like if you bought a car, but then you were only allowed to drive it in the snow because the manufacturer essentially said so (not the best analogy, I know aha).
I don’t care about the event items. That was never part of what I was trying to say. I care about my battlepass items because I paid for them. The free stuff is getting in the way of me acquiring stuff I paid for. It shouldn’t, flat out just shouldn’t.
I completely agree there. It was a complete nothing burger really.
Well that’s true, I can’t speak for people in area’s where the halo infinite community is fairly low I guess. But that’s also not something the 343i team can really fix either.
This so much this.
My problem with the entire Seasonal Narrative is that it’s so shallow, but could have been so much more.
Imagine a Halo Infinite with the MP Narrative being a fully fledged campaign story, on the same level as Halo Reach. Right now, it just feels like Spartan Ops 2.0 but even worse since there’s no PvE at all. Shallow shallow shallow.
343, you can dangle all the rewards you like infront of me, but it will never make me like Infinite’s MP narrative until you give us something juicy to experience. After biting into the dry -Yoink!- well done steak which is Infinite for almost a year, the smell of Forge wafting in is piquing my appetite and I want more, and I expect more.
If you want a MP Campaign DLC to fully fledge out the narrative, I’d happily pay for that if it means I get a quality juicy experience, not this nonsense.
Granted, they actually made it easier to clear the Event pass this time : either a bug or intentional, a Challenge now gives 2 tier progression, needing only 5 to unlock the whole pass. But 343, making it easier this way isn’t what makes players happy, it’s the stupid staggering of challenges and Upcoming Weekly system that needs to be changed. Why can’t they understand this?
USER EXPERIENCE USER EXPERIENCE USER EXPERIENCE! THE REWARDS PALE IN COMPARISON TO THE JOURNEY TO GET THERE. @Unyshek
I would like to say, I personally make such statements because after going through the everyone’s complained about, I genuinely do not want others to go out of their way to make themselves upset. ESPECIALLY if they dislike the event in it’s entirety. I don’t disagree with your points, I don’t entirely disagree with anyone else’s, if anything it does help give me an understanding. But I would simply rather see others not torture themselves like I do to get pieces of armor if they do not particularly like those sets of equipment, especially with a battlepass that is going to be around until November. A week isn’t going to shave much off your progress if you just avoid it. Of course, with challenges being much easier now, it’s one of those things where everyone’s argument is kinda. Irrelevant? Like we’re all arguing over what we think is a river and trying to or complaining about how deep it is only for it to be half an inch deep, ya feel me?
…And yeah, I agree this ““narrative”” event, is some dogwater. Said it before and I’ll say it again. Spartan Ops for Events so then you can literally give them a narrative, only flaw of course being the time needed to do that. Make a new map, etc, etc. Rather than just… Give use two characters we know next to nothing about and acting as if we give a damn about either of them.
Real talk if you’re spawning in the danger zone that’s some serious bull, and I’m surprised that didn’t get fixed after the last event. Did no one report that as a problem?
I’m honestly shocked they did Last Spartan Standing…again. they did it once before, then it became a permanent playlist. So it being back isn’t special. It doesn’t feel like an event. Also, I was excited to play this event with my son, thinking it would be a new game type. It’s the same FFA event. Jesus Christ, can’t even play it with your friends. As if you can even get your friends to come back and play the game anyways I guess.
They really should make event challenges separate from the regular battle pass challenges. It can be frustrating that during events players don’t particularly like can’t progress very much in their battle pass. But there is plenty of time to complete the battle pass as the seasons are pretty long. Hopefully they are working on making the pass more player friendly. Infinites challenge system without a doubt is one of the worse progression systems ever.
Strictly speaking, your ability to progress is the same as it always was. It’s not a punishment, it’s not stopping you… the issue here is that you don’t like the challenges.
Even disregarding the event, you still probably have challenges you hate doing (I know I have), and granted, given that it’s an event, if you hate said event, you’ll probably hate most of the challenges, which is fair enough.
But you’re not getting less XP unless you don’t do said challenges which is the way it’s always worked.
However I will say I wish they completely separated seasonal challenges and event challenges, because yeah, it straight up sucks to essentially be forced into things you don’t wanna do to keep pace, but given how many times U.I. issues have been brought up, like all things involving this game, it’ll probably take time.
I don’t even play infinite multiplayer any more. I stick to mcc. Just playing infinite right now for a legendary campaign completion and get the last of data pads and skulls.
It makes absolute sense to me. I learned during Season 1 of being a battle pass owner that challenges are random and even with swaps you may not enjoy what you get. The challenges are designed to help further your progress faster. I’d call it a double edge sword if you don’t enjoy the current event at hand.
