I just reread Bad Blood and the band is back together (I totally forgot about that) including the traitor.
Game could be on the fight against Cortana. Missions to free pockets of humans and to find ways to fight or find an achilles heel of the guardians.
There is already a fifth character so no new rookie. Play as Buck
They should all have spartan armor based on their ODST armor.

I mean: possible yes, either standalone or as a campaign expansion to Infinite. The issues would be: the actors involved probably command higher fees and a more demanding schedule than many.
My main concern would be doing it for the sake of doing it. I feel you’d need a strong and compelling story with which to make the most of the characters. How would you bridge the gap between Halo 3 ODST and 2559 or later to those unfamiliar with the books?
I have a feeling Alpha-9 may be important, but probably more in the fiction or as supporting characters in the games.
If they did decide to return back to Alpha-Nine then I think maybe a visual synopsis à la Halo 4’s intro to bridge the events following Halo 3: ODST until now might work. Although they could maintain consistency to ODST’s introduction by having a literary cliffnotes of the backstory leading up to the conflict of the game.
If they were going to reuse Alpha-Nine then I think you would have to ensure that the developments of the squad’s dynamics are acknowledged and explored further next to their mission having a substantive impact on the broader conflict. Who is this new woman that is part of the team? What happened to the Rookie? Why is Mickey looked upon with suspicion and unease by his teammates? You would have to give an adequate explanation for these things while finding a logical progression for their relationship from where Bad Blood left off.
As far as bridging gaps or explanations to those who are unfamiliar with other media besides the games, H5 really didn’t do that.
For team Osiris, other than Buck from H3 (really H2 timeframe) ODST, there is no backstory for them. Locke was from the live action series, Vale from Hunters in the Dark book, and I’m assuming Tanaka was in a graphic novel somewhere. Does H5 ever address when/why Buck became a Spartan? Even Palmer and Lasky are just dropped in H4 if you’re unfamiliar with the books, short films, and comics.
I’d have to replay ODST to remember if Gretchen is mentioned in the game.
Back stories could be covered in cut scenes or even comments made by the other members during gameplay.
The storyline could be searching for a means to fight the guardians. Dare would provide the continuity between missions by giving the intel updates of where they’re going next and why.
I would faster expect to see it as a dlc in the 10 year plan for halo
I’ve been saying for a while now that I want an Alpha-9 game. Make it a spiritual successor to ODST. They’re all Spartans now so it can’t be a strict sequel, but it can be a spiritual sequel with the same tone as the original. Make Mickey the protagonist and give him the opportunity to redeem himself in the eyes of Buck and the rest of Alpha-9 for betraying them. He doesn’t have to abandon his Insurrectionist feelings, but he can make up for his personal betrayal of his friends.
Also, it would be kinda different to play as a protagonist that everyone distrusts. Every other FPS Halo game you were either the Chief or a competent and trusted soldier in good standing with the UNSC. This would be the first time we could play as an Insurrectionist who is hated by those we are supposed to work with. Could make for a pretty fantastic campaign story that would be discussed for years to come.
