Almost perfect, but...

Just from the gameplay, Halo 5 seems to have a lot of potential. There are some things I hope 343i would consider before launching, however.

THE SCOPE. I know ADS is mainly cosmetic, but if that’s the case, what’s the point of changing something that is inherently Halo? I would assume most Halo fans would agree that the old scope is miles better than this new, weird, and CoD-like (yep, I said it) scope, so I don’t understand why 343 identified this as something to change.

THE ARMOR ABILITIES. I don’t even know what most of them are called, but I feel like this was a big complaint of Halo: Reach and Halo 4, that armor abilities detracts from the gun-on-gun, skill-only action that defined the first three games.

THE MECHANICS. This is mostly just my opinion, but I really don’t like the new sliding and climbing up mechanics. For me, I thought finding cool jump-ups were awesome, but this weird climbing up mechanic makes that aspect obsolete.

Otherwise, I think 343 is moving in the right direction. Taking out ordinances, removing grenade indicators, and descoping are examples of learning from feedback.

Changing the visual of the scope can simply be rectified by the cause of adding a new flare of visual diversity. If it functions the same as previous Halo’s then the only viable complaints out there are over looks, which is a little petty. The apparent “ADS” is simply to keep the visuals fresh and different. Though I can see how people are against it as its quite common and natural for people to accept change even at minimal levels.

I’ve always kinda wanted them combined into Sprint, actually, but a lot of people seem to hate that, too…

The Scope: If it is only cosmetic, it is an additional option, you do not have to use it so do not whine about an option.

Spartan Abilities: Does not detract from gun skill, in fact, it adds skill because now you have more depth of gameplay; regardless of the fact it is almost a rip off of CoD AW’s Exo movements. Lastly, it amazes me you cannot grasp the fact that in this case, Spartan Abilities are not AAs and are a fundamental mechanic. Mantling is not a weird mechanic, but a fluid one that makes games better. Sliding also adds depth whether you believe it or not.

With MCC’s release tonight, you can go back to your old ways and not accept 343’s new evolution.

Soon the Great Journey shall begin; but when it does, the weight of your heresy will stay at your feet. And you shall be left behind.
