I made a thread about this around this time last year; thought I’d give it another go and see if there are any new stories in the past year of H5.
Alright, ladies and gentleman…we’ve all been there…the 15-1 game where the medal was ripped from your hand just as you could feel it by your teammate with a ghost who just happened to giggle into her microphone after. That match where you had the rockets and heard the announcer go ‘double kill, triple kill…’ and there was just no one around for that extermination. So here is the place to share your tales, tell me about those near misses that moment when you were just so close to that medal you wanted. Whether it would have been your only one or was going to be your 500th doesn’t matter. It could be a Superfecta, Invincible, Extermination, Perfection…you were close enough to taste it. Now tell us all about it.
Was playing BTB with some folks from my company a few nights back, and the last game of the night I was one kill away from a Perfection, and the game ended with the last kill being an Assist :B
I had a moment where I thought was the one causing such an incident earlier, though it was in the MCC… Turns out I didn’t ruin a Perfection there, since watching it in Theater he apparently committed suicide during a banshee flip somehow - I was still his “Killed most by” in the postgame screen though xD
It was an ambient noise from the map Derlict from Halo CE, me and the randoms against red team. All was well, I had the perfection waiting for me on the other side. My sniper and magnum was glad to help me. However red team said screw this, I’m out. My team, ever since, became blood thirsty team betrayers! It got to them, they couldn’t handle the boardness of afk player. I tried to dodge there bullets, but the three on my team was just to much. I fell, I could hear my Spartan dying, I saw my weapons land on the ground beside me. Since then, I don’t know if I can forgive those dang splitscreeners!
Sorry this isn’t from Halo 5 also! Don’t really having anything like that from Halo 5.
This one time in Halo Reach BTB
Blood Gulch remake. I passed the 15 kill mark with no deaths and my team was 12 kills away to win the game and…
… someone in my team had the “encouragement” of punching me twice losing my streak and the game didn’t give me an option to boot him 
Playing warzone months back and managed to get a ghost into the fortress on Stormbreak right as everyone was rushing trying to cap it.
One splatter. Two splatter. Three, four, five six, seven splatters, lined up for the eighth within a short period of time when I hit two teammates out of nowhere and get booted for betrayals
It was Breakout. Last guy on the other team was hiding. Probably camping with a shotgun. I grabbed the flag and started running it.
Inches away from the flag, BAM! Smacked dead.
“BETRAYED!”
“What?!”

Was in Warzone on Darkstar. Noticed I was on a pretty high streak. I looked at my score and saw that I was on a 35 kill streak and I thought “Alright baby. This is it. This is the day I get my first Unfrig. Right here. Right now.” Got another kill, and another, and another, and another. Was up to 39 kills. One more. That’s all I need. Just. One. More. I went back to fortress to call in a REQ and saw a parked Gausshog with no gunner. I thought “You know, I’m a damn good Gausshog gunner I think I’ll hop in!” I ran up to it and when I was about 15 feet away, the 'Hog turned around and splattered me. On purpose. All I wanted was to be his gunner. All I needed was 1. More. Kill. That was not the day I got my first unfrig. Alas, it was the day I broke my controller.
I’ll share two stories:
Crash and Burn
During a WZ match on Apex 7, I decided to break out of my comfort zone and use the Banshee Ultra to rack up some kills. Under most circumstances, I am a terrible Banshee pilot and I would struggle to get a Killing Spree without taking too much damage. Even with the Ultra’s armor, I still took too much damage to sustain myself for long. For a time, I was doing a lot of damage to both enemy players and A.I. foes. Even so, I had to bail out of my smoking bird (and destroy it) multiple times before I blew up. I pulled out a third Ultra, and I got very close to my first Unfrig (about 2-3 kills away). Unfortunately, another Ultra ambushed me and turned mine into a flying and smoking coffin…
A big fat Headache
I was out with another group of friends in Slayer on Eden, and we were doing very well. The enemy team couldn’t get a foothold in the match, and we’ve essentially steamrolled them for the majority of the game. At one point, we spotted players on the high catwalk and I proceeded to intercept them. One of my teammates had the Sniper. In a stroke of bad luck, he accidentally shot me in the back of my head at the wrong time, robbing me of my would-be third Perfection.
I was going to kill a mongoose, when right at the last second…my medal was stolen.

54 kills 3 deaths turbo game on noctus
I started the game with oni/Hannibal tanks but the enemy team kept lasering me before I could rack up too many kills. Then I decided to play sneaky with camo/snipe/rail combo. Since the other team was repeatedly swarming our garage I took cover on the spiral stairs outside the garage. From that position I went on a 34 kill spree but someone had the nerve to deny me an unfrigg by ending the game with a boss kill

I was playing Reach a few years back, and I didn’t get a perfection, because my teammate intentionally betrayed me with the sword last second.

CE sometimes turns into a who can betray the most match. It’s awesome!

I have a lot of stories, probably all lost on recording somewhere…
I was playing doubles with a friend. My partner and I were killing it. We started a new game on Truth and both of our opponents were afk from the start. We kept mowing them down until it got to the last kill. I go up to assassinate the guy when he suddenly thruster packs away, turns around and kills me and ground pounds my partner. I killed him shortly after I respawned and we won, but I wasn’t able to get the perfection medal!
Went deathless in a game of BTB slayer…
Could not for the life of me get the final kill needed for a Perfection.
