As a infected it would be better to have your service tag show for other infected to see. But for the survivors it would be best for you to turn it off depending on how you like to play. For example lets say there are only two survivors left one of them being yourself and you want to meet up with the other survivor to fight together. Then you would want your survive tag to show so you can meet up. But what if you don’t want to meet up and you just want to hide and hope the other survivor will get infected so you can be the last man standing? What if that other survivor goes to your location and bring all of the infected with him and you get killed because of that. There are 2 ways of playing the survivor. One is fighting off the infected and the other is hiding from the infected. But it is hard to hide because all the other survivors knows your location because of your service tag.I know infected cannot see survivors service tags but other survivors can. A survivor can look at your servive tag then get infected then go to your location and infected you. All I am asking is the OPTION to turn it off if you want to thats all. I always like to hide once it is the last 4 or 3 survivors so the option to turn it off during infection would be great!
If you are part of the last 2 survivors it wouldn’t matter if your tag was hidden and the other survivor was infected. There is a giant red “KILL” icon on your head as Last Man. The point of Infection is to fend off the infected, not camp for Last Man. If someone for whatever reason decides to remember your location based on your service tag to infect you after they were killed, then shoot them and move to a new place. Based on what you said, it sounds like you would only disable it because you can’t pull the trigger on a Shotgun.

The big red kill only pops up for the last man standing not the last 2. Hiding is a part of infection gameplay too. The reason why you don’t start off with full shotgun ammo is because they want you to save your ammo. The reason why most of the time the bigger groups of survivors die before the smaller groups is because the bigger group makes more noise thus more infected try to kill them first. When infected runs to a group of survivors the survivors will sometimes all shoot at once. Meaning they are wasting more ammo faster while the smaller groups are saving up ammo because they are not attracting as much infected as the big group in the game. If I was one of the last 2 or 3 survivors and I killed a infected that will only bring the rest of the hored to my location and hiding again will almost be impossible.

If I was one of the last two alive, I would love to meet up with the other survivor and increase OUR probability of surviving. Also, the point of Infection is to fend off the Zombies, not hide and pray that they won’t find, because once Last Man Standing triggers, everyone will see the giant “KILL” icon above your head. It’s not even that hard to spot a Zombie who isn’t invisible or another Survivor - our character models use a different shader to the lighting in the game so we appear to “glow” in darkened areas.
I honestly have no idea why you would want to hide by yourself, knowing that the Infected could easily find you. Because once they find you, they know where you are. Infected tend to follow other Infected, so if one has found you, others will be coming too.

If there is 3 survivors left and there is 20 seconds left and I am close to them I won’t hide. But if there is 3 survivors left and there is over a minute left I would be hiding because even if I joined up with the others there is a very high chance we will all run out of ammo and we will all die (even when the last survivor pops up)
If you wanted to signal other survivors to group up during Infection, simply tap up on your d-pad and you’ll flash your location. There’s no need to hide your service tag.

I want to hide my service tag so survivors won’t group up with me. Flashing out my location is the opposite of what I am trying to do

Unfortunately, there is no option to hide it. Best bet would be to find an alternate hiding spot away from the other survivors without attracting too much attention from the infected.
