Running away from a fight is a legitimate tactic. If there is a situation in which you are at a major disadvantage in a gunfight, then it shouldn’t be a guaranteed death for you. You should be allowed to negate that advantage by having the ability to flee and react accordingly with a different plan.
I don’t approve of this idea but I think that the yellow bar above the shields should have a reduced time spam after sprinting for a long period of time because stopping and accidentally sprinting again is such a time waster for your shields.
I totally agree!!! Fleeing a battle to reposition is a legitimate tactic. However given the following: 1. You are 1-shot 2. Your shields don’t regenerate while sprinting &3. All player’s are the same speed, this renders fleeing a battle an almost useless tactic. If a player knows the above three things all he has to do to finish you off is chase you. He knows that while sprinting you can never get your shield back so it’s just a matter of time before he gets that angle to get the last shot. It also makes you feel like you’re spartan armor is not that tough. I hate this 1 aspect of the game!!!
Oh, I forgot something. Let’s say you were engaged in a battle and you won, but your shields are down. Now because your shields are down and sprinting will not allow your shields to regenerate, you cannot rush to provide backup for your teammates. Basically it slows your engagement into the next battle, assuming you want to begin that battle at full strength.
I like the way it is. I liked it in the beta, I like it in the full game too.
I hate this too, especially when you win a 1v1, but can’t spring to cover afterwards to let your shields recharge usually ends in someone coming in just before that yellow bar reaches the end (Which feels like forever) and just pops you in the head once.
The only people who have complained about shields being able to recharge while sprinting were the ones who ended up missing someone after they broke their shields and that enemy got away from them.
No this is a horrible idea. How could you even suggest this.
Nope. It’s a balancing issue.
Naw too many people would be mad, they could always nerf the sprint (make it slower) and allow regeneration but eh I’d rather have the faster sprint
You can, wait till it starts to recharge before Sprinting. If you attempt to Sprint beforehand, it will reset the timer.
I disagree. If you need to flee take advantage of the thruster pack. If you cant escape with that then you arent meant to survive that particular encounter.
I’d like health regen while sprinting but if we had that, I probably wouldn’t want the sprint to be infinite.
Sprint seems to be causing more problems that it’s worth

LOL go play HALO 4 then! the main reason people hated sprint in that game. you still have that ability. I have sprinted away STOPED sprinting and allowed my health and to charge plenty of times! do you sprint all the way across the map o.o it is never a “guaranteed death” play smarter kid
That’s why you’ve got to play smart, either stand your ground and fight or die simple
I couldn’t disagree more. The sprint/shield mechanic is perfect the way it is. Otherwise you’ll have too many kids successfully running from fights they’ve rightfully lost.
They have a mod that lets you recharge and sprint.
I disagree. I feel like the multiplayer is more fair with the shield mechanic. If players just keep running away like cowards when there shield is down, they will get there shield back when they keep running. If you want the shields to recharge while running away then play halo 4’s multiplayer. You will see what I mean.
No and plz stop making duplicate forum threads…
No,

A good player will rarely chase you. Why would someone give up their position for 1 measley kill when all you have to do is run toward your teammates?
You can still successfully run away in Halo 5 it’s just not as easy as it was in Halo 4, and that’s a good thing. Halo 5 actually brings back some of the risk of making a move on a position.
Sure running away is a legit tactical choice but it’s not like it takes skill. Winning fights takes skill so the game should emphasize the option that actually takes skill over the option that doesn’t.
Besides, you have energy shields it’s already easy enough to break off an engagement if you have to.

343 made it a goal to fix the abuses of sprint. This shield regen feature works and promotes engagement. You are still free to run away. Players do it all the time.
Let’s watch players demand everything that made Halo 4 into a ghost town and then leave the game when no one’s playing. Have we had “bring back orbital drops” yet?
