Can we just bring back the Halo 2-3 health system for Halo 6, we’re clearly demanding some sort of regen ability to our vehicles. Between hitscan weapons and an insane amount of tier 1 2, and 3 power weapons to deal with them, can they at least be tied to your shields like in Halo 2-3? Paper vehicles have never been fun.
I think its kind of more important that we talk about vehicle mechanics than we do all this massive nitpicking over content we the community asked for so I’m bumping this thread.
The only reason vehicles are made of paper now, is because 343 wants you to push for the more armored version of the vehicle from reqs.
I’d prefer the CE vechle system but that’s just me.

I’d take it over the current vehicle system tbqh.
Anything is better then the Current vehicle system

I didn’t realize Reach had reqs

I disagree. The vehicles serve their purpose without being too op like the warthog or hornet in H3 or the banshee in reach
It would be nice if home base/garage/fortress or another player ability or vehicle could repair vehicles. Imagine huragoks repairing vehicle.

Sounds really nice on paper, but would make strong vehicles OP. Like the Ultra B

He means that vehicles have been weak since Halo Reach, which they have.
It really annoys me how easy vehicles are to destroy. The hardest vehicle to destroy is probably the Banshee when people just keep doing flips.
The Halo 3 warthog was perfect. It required solid team work from two people, it was a map controlled weapon meaning your team had to control it in order to have it (Granted, most of the time it was right outside the starting base, but you could camp the enemy base and steal theirs on respawn) it had a pretty fast top speed but a fairly slow acceleration, and its drifting mechanics were awesome.
In order to kill it, one simply had to land a sticky on it (assuming it wasn’t freshly spawned), spartan laser it, missile pod it, rocket it, EMP it with either the plasma pistol or the power drain, snipe the exposed gunner, or teamshot it with BRs.
Despite all those terrible memories you may have of getting mowed down by it, the warthog in Halo 3 was a well balanced machine. All of the vehicles were. They were strong enough to make control of a power weapon to kill it important, but you couldn’t kill the team with just one or two good vehicles unless they had no idea how to shoot from cover. The vehicle was linked to your shields, and the damage you took increased as it took more damage. Once the vehicle passed a certain threshold, massive damage (such as a stick, a rocket, getting clipped by a laser etc.) would detonate the entire vehicle, otherwise, the vehicle would not explode as long as the driver had shields, giving players more information on whether they needed to push or fade.
Paper vehicles (Reach, 4, 5) are not only less fun to use, they’re tactically less useful. You can’t run a ghost patrol in Warzone because before you can make it all the way around the map, so many players have taken potshots at your huge and easy to hit ghost that its already on fire and ready to explode in a few more shots. With regen health, this would mean the player had to be careful and avoid extended fights, but with paper vehicles, it means staying inside the vehicle is nearly suicidal.
The most viable tactics with Paper Vehicles are those that include rushing to get a few kills before exploding or hit and run with a huge emphasis on sneaking up on other players. Even tanks are getting leveled by massed small arms fire within minutes after getting on the battlefield, and more often than not, my freshly spawned tank is already smoking before it finishes its animation for leaving the damn garage. ITS A TANK. It should be immune to small arms fire.
Finally, vehicles are just plain cooler when they’re regen. Its empowering when you know you’re limits in a vehicle. Pinning two or three people with a ghost while your team works around their cover to take them out, hauling -Yoink- between fire fights in a warthog while trying to catch some cover between the slight breaks, winning a close dogfight in a banshee then taking cover, recharging the shields, and going on bombing runs.
You don’t get that with paper vehicles. You might have a few fights that are decently fun, but the moment a few people target you, or you get nicked by a passing rocket, or a nade explodes near you - the moment the vehicle starts spewing fire that’s it - the fun’s over.
