I feel like moderation has been fine, as I actually have yet to see one thread that truly takes a complaining tone. Most of the threads I’ve seen and/or posted in have been thoughtful feedback, (which is absolutely fantastic, and honestly mindblowing) and fans that love the game so far, but have legitimate issues. And for some things, a ticket isn’t the right way to report them, as they are WAI. But that’s the problem. If it’s “as intended”, then we fans are concerned about the longevity of this game.
If I could only post links in here, there are some legitimate cases. And clearly if that is what it is then that’s clearly not what or who I’m talking to
Yeah I agree that there is way too much nonconstructive complaining here, but 343 probably doesnt want to start removing complaints and look like they’re silencing the community. Rumors like that can get out of hand pretty quickly. If its a problem for them, i’m sure they’ll figure out the best way to clean up the forums.
The “majority of people aren’t happy” I think is just because this is a feedback forum and you’ll simply see more negative feedback than positive, we’re all trying to improve the game. Everyone i’ve chatted with thinks infinite is a fantastic game with only one major flaw and a few tiny ones, and no major bugs to be seen. That’s a pretty damn good place to be in the realm of AAA games right now lol.
Look at Battlefront 2. The crapstorm for that game was so profound that the news media picked up on it. What happened? The microtransaction system was changed from something terrible to one of the best microtransaction systems I’ve ever seen and the game turned into a pretty darn good Star Wars game even if you hate EA.
Although some spam and non-constructive comments do get old, sometimes you need to speak up to be heard. I like the gameplay I’ve seen so far and am excited to get invested in this game. But I don’t want to make that initial investment until the system is tweaked to be properly rewarding. I know, I know you should “just have fun” but progression systems of some kind are the norm now. Surely they can do better than this which I hope their comments show that they are working on it.
I agree with you both, I know from the last review they said they would have alot of it fixed by launch or shortly after. I guess I feel like alot has already been addressed and maybe it was missed?
"Six years…
Six years of Develoment and we get predatory microtransactions and 10 maps
six years"
This 100%!
Halo pioneered shooters of today and now Halo just copies other game companies formulas instead of blazing their own path. Customization is a massive step backwards, emblems went backwards, cores now dictate what armor and color you can equip, which is terrible. I do not understand why they made some of these decisions, but overall the BP is the one that really has me scratching my head. All along 343 talked about how you will be able to build a unique Spartan and how many combinations there will be, but that is not the case at all.
People are complaining because we care. The gameplay is fun. There is great potential here. But the progression system/exp-by-challenge-only was noted to be bad during the flight and they didn’t listen. Plus, lack of Forge was always going to hurt this game in the short-term. The small amount of maps will be tough to hold most people over for six months. Plus, the microtransactions and shades are pretty egregious.
I’m looking forward to the campaign, and I’m looking forward to see how MP evolved. But that doesn’t mean I won’t complain about what I think are pretty poor designs.
Based on experience from a wide variety of online forums and with approximately 15,000 forum posts under my belt. I would say that the opinions stated on the forums do very rarely represent the general opinion from the population. Additionally, the opinions stated is usually also more negative than than the general opinion.
This do mainly come from that there isn’t really anything to discuss when there is a agreement compared to a disagreement and I’m as guilty as many others on this point.
Forge shouldn’t even be involved in this particular thread, that’s been known to come at season 2ish, and this forge is supposed to have scripting and everything else. 6 years, yeah 6 years to build a game engine from the ground up and build the biggest Halo yet. I’m sure they did their best, pandemic included.
Releasing early isn’t the main reason. I feel like 343i ignored valid complaints in the flights and there’s no way they were going to expect the complaints to magically go away when they put in shady stuff like premium battle pass. The majority of people aren’t happy because the game itself is a mess with plenty of valid criticisms like lack of proper customisation and 343i know for over a year that a majority of people seemingly hate the ‘core’ system that restricts customisation.
Of course they can make most people happen if they actually listen to the community instead of just ignoring them. We know they can do that because they seemed to be listening with the campaign. I’ve been playing Halo for 20 years and this is the first time 343i’s pushed me to actually wonder if I’ll be playing Infinite in a couple of months because of some of the stupid mistakes they have made with the MT system. I feel like once the GS is done I may end up just going back to MCC since the predatory premium system is not worth it and don’t even get me started on how poorly balanced the cross-play is. I could rant about this all day but I feel like I have to play other games to calm me down.
I’m not disagreeing with what is wrong with the game guys… … Hell I’m not trying to argue that matter.
I think the problem is that they had this feedback ever since the first technical flights, and yet they’ve tweaked none of it. People are complaining because they’re dissatisfied with the game and it’s understandable. The foundations of gameplay are great and fun but what 343 built around them is not. And yes, it’s quite baffling that this is what they’ve come up with after six years, and with the great Halo 5 multiplayer under their belt. It’s safe to say that the majority has expected more.
It absolutely should. 6 years is a long-time for game development. And we know they had a rocky development. No Forge and no co-op on launch (which they said would be in at launch) should be fair game. Will it be good later? Yeah. But on launch, it’ll be pretty bare.
I see where you’re coming from here, however, I don’t agree. The idea that the criticism being levied against Halo Infinite is just “complaining” diminishes the very valid reasons that people are upset - which you noted. This game feels absolutely fantastic to play. When I’m in the middle of the game(when I’m not trying to complete challenges that take me away from the main obj), I definitely don’t have complaints.
But, as a couple other people have noted, these have been issues that have been talked about before the game launched in both flights. It just seems like the feedback that hasn’t been positive, especially in regards to BP progression - which is the only progression right now in a game built around shooting people and making your Spartan look amazing - and good gameplay can only take a game so far now.
I guess so but the thing is none of these issues are going to be fixed by the time the campaign comes out and there’s no guarantee that 343i will continue to listen to any of the major complaints. I have basically had enough. It’s like I’m used to earning armour by grind or challenges but sadly this is blocked by the premium live service model and it irritates me to no end.
I may have hated Halo 5’s stupid loot box system but at least I know all armours could be looked eventually but there essentially blocking content for greedy reasons. I’m already hearing people wasting insane amounts of money on content for a game that would have never cost as much as others are currently spending on MT and people are defending this by acting like it’s free.
I just want a complete game and it saddens me that 343i doesn’t seem to care about the fanbase and it’s obvious that they only after maximum money. I refuse to pay for a single MT and happy to support dev’s like the campaign but 343i are pushing their luck with the premium pass.
Anyway kind of feel like 343i keep pushing me into a rant. I need to distract myself from Infinite since not happy.
I think that the criticism is coming from multiple places. First people who did the test flights and provided feedback for issues that still exist. Second, players finally getting to play for the first time, and seeing the same issues.
I would argue that this Halo has some of the most significant changes to the game ever, more so than Halo 4, or 5, and I don’t think its sitting well with a lot of long time players. New players are seeming to enjoy it, which I think is an indicator of who the demographic is that 343 was targeting with this game.
Not sure but if they keep doing this without major changes it may put off most long term players since there’s no incentive to keep playing. I know they were planning to push this as their 10 year plan but if they don’t make major changes I don’t see this lasting longer than 1-3 years.
For me, it doesn’t really matter if none gameplay affecting content is locked behind a paywall. However, I would wish to have more clarity about the unlock requirements for each piece of content and which pieces of content that are unlocked fully or partially for real world money. Additionally, I would also like to see the unlock requirements specified for already unlocked items.
There is a good chance my friends and I will go back to the MCC after a week or two. We enjoy halo 2a, 3, and 4 too much. Infinite might just not be for us old guys.
The reception seem better than 4 and 5 and maybe reach from what I’ve seen.
Map pool is underwhelming but thatsmy biggest issue.
I just wish people would stop using live service and “beta” as an excuse.
Sure they might surprise with more maps on the 8th but the official line is “day one launch content” is here and folks keep saying they said there’s more on the 8th but I’ve yet to be shown any evidence of that being the case, just keep being told I’m dumb and don’t understand the game.
Insulting to say the least.
The games great it has launch issues like any other.
But I wish btb had more maps after how much it was advertised as a grand return.
