All this talk about Achilles and it being part of it for most Spartan Communities is getting me confused. You can tell I do not understand or know about “the importance” of this armour! this reminds me of how popular the Haunted Helmet was or the Recon Helmet is. What is the point in having this armour other than to look cool and show off? Seriously I read up on how you need to have certain level requirements and being in a Company. Does this mean I can make my own Company on my own be as active as I can be, then get the required stats I need to get a helmet and a piece of armour!? That’s all it sounds like to me at least! Unless I am missing a key point in this: like an achievement, extra XP or magical flying unicorns!
The reason it’s so “prestigious” is that it is very difficult and time-consuming to get.
You’ll need to complete most of these commendations to get the armour and helmet.
If you make your own company, you’ll need 4 members for it to become active.
The only thing that makes the Achilles armor special is that it requires you have at least 100 people collectively grinding 62 levels of commendations over the course of several months; my Spartan Company only finished it last month, having grinded it out for nearly a year.

Yes, but it will take you decades by yourself. I’d recommend that you join a Spartan Company that has already made some major progress.

Whoops, forgot about this little detail. You’ll actually need at least 3 other people to join you, otherwise your Spartan Company won’t be active, therefore you won’t be able to earn commendations for the armor. (Thanks to Chimera for the correction.)
No, OP, you pretty much have everything understood. Achilles is a vanity item; nothing more. Personally it doesn’t even look that cool to me, but the amount of time it takes to get makes it rare and therefore popular. But ultimately its just cosmetic. It’s worth is what you put it in.

Actually it’s impossible by yourself. A Company needs at least 4 members to be active, and only active Companies can get commendation progress.

My company already has the armor. And now, we play for the helmet.
Can I still have the armor or just the helmet when all the commendations are completed ?
To be honest it doesn’t look that good, probably going back to Mark IV soon.
Sounds like some one is just salty that they may never have it. It’s quite and achievement. It takes a lot of games to get it and kinda work together. I don’t think I will ever have it as most Spartan companies who are going for it have ridiculous requirements, stuff like you have to play certain game types and certain number of times etc… As a solo player I like to play at my own pace. When I play Halo I like being able to play whatever.

i believe you would only be getting the helmet and not the armor if that is the case.
i wish the company im in would get the helmet already weve had the armmor for a year and were stil stuck on the helmet

Personally I wouldn’t even COMPARE Achilles to Haunted, at least Haunted was something creative and was asked for by quite a bit of people during the Halo 3 skull craze. Achilles is just meant to look like a roman helmet on recon body armor, big whoop, personally I prefer Helljumper and Nightfall over Achilles.
