Instead of having separate ranked and social playlists consider this proposal.
All playlists are ranked but ranks, yours and everyone else’s, are hidden by default. There would be three options: “Hide All Ranks” (default), “Hide My Rank”, and “Don’t Hide Ranks”.
In addition to these rank options there would be a “Skill” filter which, when enabled, would only match you with players of similar skill but may increase search times.
This approach does not split the player pool into two separate playlists but allows for both ranked and social play. Social players can hide all ranks and search with the skill filter off. Ranked players can disable hidden ranks and search with the skill filter on.
Gamechat options would include “Friends Only”, “Team Mates Only”, and “Off”. This would allow players to tweak their online experience to whatever they are comfortable with.
With all of these options people can play Halo however they like. What do you think?
