All of this anger toward halo 4 is to be expected

It happens every time Halo has a new iteration:

People were FLAMING Halo 2 for adding dual wielding, taking out the pistol, and nurfing weapons. Not to mention the game-breaking glitches like super-bouncing, BXR, and people stealing host in matchmaking. Lets not forget about the n00b combo. Halo lost a LOT of fans. Many said it took no skill because of things like the n00b combo. But it also GAINED a lot of fans then. People grew to love Halo 2 for being Halo 2. What people forget is that the boards were COVERED in disapproving threads, though, fighting between Halo 1 and 2.

People FLAMED Halo 3 for adding items, an overpowered BR, no good maps, getting rid of the 1-50 ranking system, etc. A LOT of people left Halo at this point. Halo 1 purists continued to complain that the BR stuck around instead of the pistol. But a LOT of people started playing Halo because of Halo 3. Still, the boards, again, were COVERED in disapproving threads.

Halo Reach: people HATED the armor abilities and and bloom. Rightly so in many cases, but these problems were no greater than things like the n00b combo in the past. Still, many people praised the Pistol coming back and rejoiced that dual wielding was gone, which had caused a bunch of half-weapons. While a lot oh Halo fans stopped playing this, it gained a lot of fans. Granted, they were more casual fans, but it did draw in additional fans. Like every new iteration, the crowd changed. To be sure, it was not as many fans as before. However, it must be factored in that, at this point, Halo finally had a lot of competition with other titles, whereas there weren’t as many good FPSs for XBox during the days of Halo 1/2, and CoD was just surfacing at the time of Halo 3.

Now we come to Halo 4. A lot of people will leave Halo because of it. But, again, many will join and it will become Halo to them. What many people don’t realize is that people who say “Halo 3 is true Halo” have many people who disagree with them who were fans of Halo 1 and 2. Let Halo 4 be its own game. Its going to change a lot of things, but life will go on.

There wouldn’t be anger if they keep it like the trilogy games.

The reaction is natural, but some people need to respect peoples opinions.

I agree.

I don’t think you read what the original poster stated. For many people, saying “make it like the trilogy” is a joke. To me, Halo 3 was the WORST game, even worse than Reach. Let Halo 4 be its own game; they are all drastically different. To me, good Halo ended at Halo 2, but I actually have hopes for Halo 4

I think sometimes it’s how people voice there opinions that causes alot of upset on the forums.

Yup. Me too. Halo 3 had the worst maps out of any of the titles, I think. Maps are half the multiplayer experience. I want tons of maps from Halo 1 and 2 to be in Halo 4. But I can honestly say I want NONE of the maps from Halo 3 back. What the OP said makes sense. People disagree with me and thats fine, but I’m certainly not the only one who thinks the Halo 3 maps sucked. All my friends stopped playing because of that in high school. Let Halo 4 be its own game. Even if I don’t like it, many others will and I can just buy a different game.

I think it has more to do with a vocal minority. Check on Youtube for the masses of people talking about the game outside of these forums, and many are praising it.

I am sooo tired of you so called veterans that just want the series to stay the same. I am a fan of all the games. I will admit, there was a point where I did hate reach, but I kept playing and eventually got over it. I only use sprint and most armor abilities frustrate me. But I got over it. Honestly I hope you leave because I want the series to expand and change(in a better way than Reach did of course),not be like halo 3. I dont know why most “veterans” want the game to be a carbon copy of one of the original 3. I know ill be flamed because of this post and I already anticipate the constant stream of “oh but halo reach is not a true halo game” and “OOOh halo shouldn’t change because change SUUUUCKS.” “It should be like CE because every game after that was crap.” But I really don’t care at this point.

Agreed. But I actually think the maps on Reach and Halo 3 were equally bad. I don’t want to see any of them return. The only good ones in them have been remakes from 1/2.

Well, maybe Forge World was pretty cool though, so +1 for Reach over Halo 3, haha.

This is where the problem lies: people want to play the same halo, but not know it is the same. A few want change, but they see the change as not custom-tailored to themselves, because it is not. Arguably, I think that Halo has been steadily improving (if you ignore the awesomeness of Halo 2).

Naturally people are scared.

Change is bad! New stuff is bad! 343i, we all want to a Halo 3 clone with shiny new skins instead of something new and interesting, k? Thanks!

I agree. Im so glad im not one of those people. I can enjoy my halo and have lots of fun with friends =) It must suck to be one of the haters lol. will never truly enjoy one of the greatest shooters ever =)

Exactly! I’ll be enjoying Halo 4 with you

I think Halo 2 received even more hate actually, after they showed that level on earth, the gauss hog, the single-shot BR, the epic battle with Elites, etc. that never actually appeared in the game.

you really didnt read what OP wrote did you -_-
