For the last week, the matchmaking has been perfect for me. Australian (Melbourne i think) dedicated servers worked great.
Connects to "dedicated server at the beginning and i was playing with other aussies.
Just today, 3-4 games in a row (don’t think it’s going to stop), i’m being put in games with people from Mexico, and using their (high latency) server.
Anybody having an issue in Australia with lag? Since the update I have only been able to find games with Americans, which I assume means I’m playing on american servers and therefore struggling with lag. Not had any problems until today.

I’m getting it as well … apparently its a new “feature” to allow those with friends on other servers to play together … but instead of allowing a party leader to be the closest dedicated server … we are all now forced to deal with the other servers as well.

Yeah, it’s really bugged it out… any chance of them reverting it? most people would rather wait a bit longer for a decent connection game, instead of a 400 ping game playing with mexicans…
We’ve also made some additional matchmaking changes in today’s update. The first of these was an update to the “One or more members of your fireteam has high latency to the dedicated server” error message. Previously, this message blocked players in error, preventing you from playing with the other player(s), and we’ve now removed this restriction. Also, we’ve been keeping an eye on feedback from international players regarding Warzone matchmaking, and found that we were a bit too aggressive in filtering players during matchmaking. After reviewing the current parameters, we’ve made adjustments that will allow Warzone matchmaking to not only allow players to find matches quicker and easier, but also allow for improved matchmaking for players across the globe, thanks to updated searching parameters that also better prioritize players in your region. Today, thanks to your reports, we were able to confirm that the changes did indeed improve matching for players across multiple regions. We need to do some additional tests to ensure that the changes don’t negatively impact any playlists, so we’ve temporarily disabled the changes, and will be re-adjusting the parameters once these changes are verified.
Why does this mean i’m stuck using dedicated servers from random places around the world?
Because instead of developing a fix they decide a blanket solution such as removing Matchmaking restrictions based on location is the best bet. After all America is the only country that deserves to get a good match. -Yoink- the rest of the world.
Yeah I’m from Australia too, and so far every game I’ve played today has been full of Americans, Mexicans (possibly Spanish rather than Mexican) and what sounds like Italians. I’ve not heard one single other Australian in any matches so far today.
Not trying to sound prejudiced or anything, but connecting to a lobby on another continent does not make for a fun (or fair) gameplay experience.
It’s even stranger because, a few nights ago, a friend and I were in a fireteam together and we invited in another friend that lives in the UK. As soon as he joined, it told us that we couldn’t use matchmaking and play any games in the Arena. So the matchmaking wouldn’t let us play, even though one of us chose to connect overseas and put up with the lag, but that same matchmaking logic seems to have no problem connecting me to laggy lobbies filled with randoms on another continent. It makes no sense.
There should be an option, like the halo 3 days, to search on ‘good connection’, which in this case, should only use the aussie servers. If people don’t care about latency, then there should be an unrestricted option too… It’s seriously frustrating. They had it right the first time, now it’s stuffed.
I can confirm this also occurs in NZ. I was really happy when I got the game that I was being matched with other New Zealanders and Australians but since the playlist and matchmaking update im being put in a US server every game, which is really unfair, especially for SWAT.
This needs to be changed back asap. I can’t do anything playing on American host from Australia. Made me realize how good the game felt when vsing fellow australians

Virtually overnight, it went from being one of the smoothest online multiplayer games around to now being an unplayable laggy mess.
They do realise that another fairly big AAA multiplayer FPS just came out right? Hopefully they’ll fix it quickly, before everybody moves on. Here’s a short example of what every game has been like since they changed it
Yep I’ve had the same problem, first week playing was awesome now it’s totally broken…whenever I’m in a game on a non AU server I don’t even bother playing its not fun, Australian servers or nothing, please revert back to old MM
can we please get a 343 rep to respond to this, I want to know if I should keep trying to play or just give up and move onto a different game
I also am having this issue, the match making was a little slow at launch but at least it connected us into an Australian server, but now the game is very frustrating to play as the lag is very noticeable.
