All good things come to an end.

How long can Halo last for really?

How long can a once original fresh and exciting concept really remain relevant?

It is in my (irrelevant) opinion that the series has its best days behind it.

Just like Police Academy it will continue and make a fair amount of money for some - but the days when Halo was boss is gone.

Bungie knew this and so should you.

I accept people are off a different mindset and will continue to ‘enjoy’ H4 and future titles - however i believe the love has gone from it.

I don’t think the people behind Halo today share the same paternal / maternal love for it that Bungie did - and this shows.

It will now be bled dry, until every penny has been squeezed out of it - becoming something of a joke franchise.

Watch out for Halo Kart race games etc.

Some things are better left dead, yet Microsoft and 343 want to play Dr Frankenstien.

Good luck to all those still enjoying the franchise.

But to those who believe it is better to burn out than to fade away -

I hope to see you again - it could be Destiny :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Peace

Well I’m through with buying new CODs. Bought and barely played the last 2 because its gotten stale playing what is essentially the same game for years on end.

Its bound to happen to Halo eventually. But I’m sure I’ll still be buying 5 and hoping for the best.

The games may die, but Halo has been a huge part of my life, and the franchise has a special place in my heart.

I believe innovations can continually keep a game fresh for years. My love for halo may be blinding me from the fact it nearly isn’t as popular as it once was, but the important thing is that I’m still enjoying it, even with all the problems H4 has. Halo 5 and 6 still have potential to make Halo the Xbox King once again. Let’s just hope 343 can do it. In the mean time I will do my best to stay positive about the future of Halo.

Oh Helllll Nahh!

Same. Halo will never fully withdraw from me.

I still love Halo 1-ODST to the end of the earth.

Halo isn’t past it’s time yet, not by a long shot. The newer generations will get to experience their own kind of Halo (evidently), and will grow up with this universe.

For the older players? Maybe it’s done. For newer players, the universe is just starting, and it will have years left in it for them.

I think many of the older players wouldn’t be done with the game had Halo 4 actually felt like a Halo game, which I know it didn’t to a lot of people.

I do not speak for those people, but I am under the personal opinion that Halo would still be as amazing as it was when I’d first played it, had Halo 4 been worth playing.

Everything about this game, the characters, the music, the maps, the missions, the multiplayer and the armor was a letdown to me.

Maybe my hopes were to high, but this game did not give the same feeling as previous Halos, which is likely a large part of why I do not enjoy it.

No, Halo’s time has not run it’s course. Rather, the track seems to have gone from pavement to black ice, and the game has slid off it’s path.

I agree. The games are probably over for the older generation and even though I’ll still be playing H4 I haven’t found a place for me in the game…

I kinda like throwdown sice it got away with AA’s, perks and everyone starts with the same weapon but it’s made for the competitive community and I’m not part of it. (Let’s face it: throwdown can be horrible without a team)

I agree with a lot of what you’ve said. I loved every single Halo title Bungie made. I’ve been playing since I was a kid back when CE was released. Although Halo 4 may not feel as Halo-ish as we were all so accustomed to (thanks to sprint, AA’s, loadouts, ordnance, etc.), I still enjoy Halo 4 and I’m able to actually find enjoyment. Halo has started a new path with a new developer and it has unfortunately turned many fans off and away from the franchise. I’m just hoping it will turn around with Halo 5 & 6. I’m not ready to give up on Halo yet after being such a huge fan of the original Halos.

Well, if the magic is gone for you, it’s better that way, but I believe this is not the end, and without being overly dramatic, I must say, this is only the beginning.

This may not be everyone’s favorite Halo, but things are not as bad as people seem to put them. There’s still the chance of an explosive return, and if there’s any franchise capable of that, is Halo.

Still, goodbye and good luck.

Great. So ten years from now my son can argue with me that instant respawn, flinch, PODs, and exploding Warthogs were always a part of Halo.

I grew up with halo. I don’t plan on leaving halo’s side until its done. (i do enjoy halo 4 as much as previous titles)

I also grew up with final fantasy, legend of zelda, mario games, star fox etc. I do feel some of the things done to each of my beloved series are terrible including halo. But I’d rather get newer people in and keep the series going then to let it die out just because i can’t accept some things.

Classics are classics for a reason. Nothings going to be as good as them. Halo will never be as good or as fun as it used to and no matter how classic we stay will it ever be like the old days. My hope is that the new games will interest the newer players enough to check out the old titles. I even got introduced into some game series that way.

I talked with a new halo player recently who just hopped in on halo 4. He’s so stoked about it he went out and got the whole series. Granted he may not be able to live out the MP days on CE and halo 2. But he will get a good feel of the past and thats what matters. As long as people know and understand the greatness of a series then i can be happy. Halo reached its peak on halo 3. But as OP said. the good days never last. Life goes on, things happen things change. I would rather enjoy halo 4 5 and 6 for what they are rather then stewing in my own dissapointment trying to relive my glory days.

That may be some peoples cup of tea but its certainly not mine.

Too late, it's already here!

As far as I’m concerned Cortana is still floating in deep space waiting to wake chief from cryo.

Halo Kart exists in custom games, I mean reachs custom games

Halo used to be the chess of console shooters. Now it’s a chess game that lets you randomly drop in an extra queen. They ruined a perfect thing, all we needed was Halo’s swan song on the 360, with H3 gameplay and a couple dozen classic maps remade in the beautiful new game engine. Instead we got this. Eight million people lined up to buy this game, and I can assure you only a fraction will return for Halo 5. It’s like 343 is trying to completely surrender this market segment to Destiny.

I agree. The great and fun times I had with the original trilogy imo won’t ever be matched. See you in Destiny!

> As far as I’m concerned Cortana is still floating in deep space waiting to wake chief from cryo.

So that means Halo 4 is all just a dream from inside Master Chief’s frozen snow globe.

To quote gravemind

There is still time to stop the key from turning

Or in this case

There is still time to stop Halo from dying

Some series can last a very long time and remain fresh and awesome others should stop while they are ahead. Others have a handful of games you can play for a lifetime.

I don’t feel Halo has reached it’s end. I feel that this installment was just not up to par with some fans (not me I love the game).

Final Fantasy has been around since the NES and I still get excited for each new game (it’s my favorite series) It has 14 main series games and many spin-offs and I still consider the series amazing (some disagree but many agree).

I think 343 did great with this game they just made the mistake of not satisfying all the groups of people who play Halo. I still prefer Halo 4 over 3 and Reach by a lot! People just need to chill and have fun. Halo will die but it won’t be soon. I hated 3 so I felt like it died at 3 and then this game came out and now I’m playing again so for those who don’t like this game like I didn’t like 3 who knows down the line 343 may release a game you love. Or you are pessimist and everything they did and ever will do sucks. Infinity Ward and Treyarch both make aweswome CoD games why can’t Bungie and 343 both make awesome Halo games.

EDIT: Also a lot of people talk about Destiny but from what I have seen it is a totally different type of shooter. Don’t get me wrong it looks really interesting and I’m totally gonna check it out but I don’t know that just because you like Bungie Halo means you’ll like Destiny it’s a totally different game.

Hey, that’s my map! I’m that guy who makes Mario Kart remakes. 343/Microsoft definitely shot themselves in the foot with this one. They changed too much. I realize some people like Halo 4, but it was a step down gameplay-wise and it’s too late for the population to recover. Sure the weapon tuning should help, but flinching instead of descoping and their infinity-fail will prevent the majority of fans from enjoying the competitive aspect of the game (and 343 doesn’t care). Maybe if they actually expand the custom game options then at least the casual gamers will be satisfied.
