Dear 343 Industries,
Please, please implement a set of playlists that requires players to have ALL the DLC in order to enter. That is to say, the players can only play in these playlists if they have the Noble, Defiant, and Anniversary map packs.
Halo: Reach will be free with Games with Gold later this month, so there will be an influx of players who don’t have the DLC. This lowers the chance for current, DLC-owning players to find a match with DLC. Also, if you want to incentivize the new players to even consider buying any DLC, they will have to know there is a way for them to play it and get good “mileage” out of it. Finding players on the forums is extremely cumbersome and not at all worth a DLC purchase for new customers. (It’s also quite frustrating to people who have already purchases the DLC).
I know there is a worry of splitting up the player population into too many playlists. So my proposal is to slightly reduce the number of no-DLC-required playlists and add just a handful of all-DLC-required playlists. Perhaps the all-DLC-required playlists should only have DLC. This will encourage players to hop back into the no-DLC-required playlists and keep those population counts up.
The all-DLC-required set of playlists would looks something like this:
- Team Slayer - with voting options for Anniversary Slayer.
- Team Objective - with at least CTF (1 and 2 flag), Oddball, Stockpile, Headhunter.
- Big Team Battle - the BTB DLC maps are fantastic!
- Multi Team - with Rocket Race and Living Dead.
- (Maybe) Invasion - gotta have a way to play Breakpoint Invasion, after all.
- (Maybe) Rumble Pit - not sure how many DLC maps are suited for this, though.
A rough sketch for the no-DLC-required set of playlists: - Combine Team Slayer & Super Slayer.
- Combine Multi Team & Living Dead.
- Combine Team Snipers & Team SWAT.
- Remove MLG? (Is the MLG community even still active in Reach?)
- Or any other combinations/removals based on population counts.
These playlists could still be “DLC optional” exactly as they are today. There could still be a chance to get matched up with an entire lobby of players with the same DLC pack(s).
I’d love to get back into Halo: Reach but it’s frustrating not being able to easily play some of the best maps in the game. Please, I beg of you, give this some serious consideration.
Thank you.
