I think this will probably be my last wishlist for MCC Reach/ODST Firefight.
Add Marine allies across the board for Reach FireFight maps. (EDIT 2022-10-04: This would be a Boons toggle and the Anniversary map would be exempt.)
Make marines more resilient across the board. What’s the fun when they die at the start?
Add the choice of one Noble team member ally per Reach FireFight session. Session still ends per regular chosen end game parameters .
Add vehicle choice to relevant Halo Reach FireFight maps. Gauss hog on Beach Front anyone?
Add option to remove or reduce ‘Soft Kill Boxes’ in Reach FireFight map interiors.
Add baked-in Flood/Covenant alternating wave mode for ODST FireFight. (EDIT: 2022-10-04: A quick ‘Burner’ wave of Sentinels passing through once in a while would be cool.)
Add Elephant vehicle choice for relevant ODST FireFight maps.
Add toggle to Boons options for random Covenant allies, in ODST FireFight, when Floodfight modes are selected. Fighting the Flood together with Covenant sounds fun.
(EDIT 2022-10-04: Regarding Marines in the Reach FireFight maps, an interesting option to have would be to use the Fireteam mechanic from the Reach campaign. This would also be a ‘Allow Fireteams’ toggle in settings.)
(EDIT 2022-10-17: Would love Reach FireFight to be able to use the Thunderstorm skull, and for both Reach and ODST to have the Thunderstorm skull risen more to the surface of the options so players don’t have to dig too much into customization to use it.)
Finally. I do thank you guys for all the work you’ve done on MCC./MCC FireFights.
There is a similar topic that goes into detail about the missing enemy types. As mentioned by Freak_A_Fan, there are some of suggestions already in the game. https://forums.halowaypoint.com/t/how-to-enhance-floodfight-firefight/512067
If they where to add being able to choose a reach noble member players would pick these three characters only and the reasons why-
Emile- because he’s everyone’s favorite/lovable spooky boi with a gun that can lob grenades. And a close range 8-gauge pew pew.
Jorge- the Big Mac chonky boi who’s also lovable with a big machine gun and a shimmy walk of a thousand elephants capable of trampling even a brute that stands in his way
Kat- god tier body and superior pistol. That is all.
Im just wanting Halo 3 Firefight, I want to fight the Covenant as my Halo 3 spartan. they could use the multiplayer maps or even areas from the campaign.
Just to make things clear. I’m all about offline/local/LAN, so I imagine that online matchmaking FireFight has a lot more aspects to consider. Many of my suggestions may not be feasible or relevant for online matchmaking. Custom online sessions would work though. It’s just you wouldn’t see many of these additions come up in the hopper, I imagine.
Regarding Noble Team members and vehicle swapping on Halo Reach maps. The drive-able civilian vehicles from Halo Reach need to be included in the list too, because if the player/s choose Jorge they need the Spade because as far as I know it’s the only vehicle Jorge can ride. When the player enters a vehicle he can’t ride, his programming might need altering to understand not to follow player?
Second the driveable civilian trucks need a little work. My experience has been that Emile will get in the passenger side, but rarely ever get out again.
The Spade
The civ trucks
The Forklift
The cart. Regarding the cart, cool if it could be programmed to allow multiple players to ride it .
Since its relevant, I’ll post some stuff from the november wishlist post I made
Halo 3: ODST
Stealth Elites restored as enemies, given the Commando Harness, and added to the wave selection for Firefight (both Minors and Majors were in the files for Halo 3 and went unused)
Spec Ops Grunts restored as allies and added to the Night Time Floodfight Boons to support existing Spec Ops Elites (were in the files for Halo 3 and went unused outside of being a reference render for a single 10th anniversary Mcfarlane Toys Figure; VA currently works at 343 and hopefully could possibly be asked to add new dialogue for this)
Brute Trackers restored to fill the Brute Sniper rank and added to Firefight (were in the files for Halo 3 but went unused as Ultras were used instead; would make for an interesting wave visually and functionally)
SGT Stacker added as a playable ODST in Firefight using the H2A helmet design (has fully fleshed out Firefight dialogue, and ties the A Day At The Beach cutscene from Halo 2 into ODST, could also just use the Hornet Pilot Helmet and Chest for simplicity if the H2A one is too awkward.)
Elite Ultra’s restored for standard Elite waves in Firefight (existed during development but was mostly Cut from Halo 3 outside of Rtas; necessary rank to improve Elite variety. Briefly experimented with during the flights)
Elite Zealot’s restored as an Elite Boss wave in Firefight (existed during development but was cut from Halo 3 entirely; would add much needed variety to boss waves in general since they would fill the same role as Generals do for Halo Reach, and could possibly be supplemented by the restored Stealth Elites)
Modify Heretic Elites to have their helmets off, and use no shoulders and no chest attachment (similar to Cut Honor Guard and Chancellor ranks briefly carried over from Halo 2 during development)
3rd Person Skull cleaned up and restored (mostly functional in legacy but inaccessible)
Reach
(worth noting I haven’t checked the next few to see if these were added with the mod-tool update)
Drones restored as enemies in Firefight (supposedly set up within the files, just disabled)
Player Elite Assassinations against NPC/AI ODST’s restored (cut originally as ODST’s were not added until I04 was released)
ODST NPC/AI boons as a setting on all maps, not just a default setting for I04
Squad System from Campaign implemented for ODST NPC’s
Adding onto this suggestion, it would be nice if we could also get generic Marines and other assorted human characters from Halo 3 as options in ODST.
Male Marine 1
Male Marine 2
Female Marine 1
Female Marine 2
Light-build ODST (Dare’s body + Rookie’s head)
Traxus Worker (H3 Storm level)
UNSC Pilot
Miranda Keyes
Terrence Hood
Ethan Graves (using armor components from H3 customization)
Marcus Hudson (copied above)
Ava Lang (ditto)
Victor Ramos (^)
New customization option to separate voice lines from the characters would be neat as well, if not fully breaking customization for Alpha-Nine characters into individual components like Halo 3+ has. ODST’s original character selection could be filed under a new section called “presets”…
disagree wholeheartedly with this particular point.
ODST’s Customization was based around playing as A character from the universe, not as your own personalized character as was the case with Halo Reach. Thus, changing it as Halo 3 was changed would be a massive disservice to the original design and intent of the games PvE customization system.
While I could support adding Fractures Characters, like Doomguy, Clayton Carmine, or even some of the big name characters from Fallout New Vegas (basically what Gears of War did with Emile and Kat), it’s more because it could be made to play well with the existing systems in place for ODST, without requiring such a fundamental change to the core of it’s customization.
Originally the cart allowed one person to drive it, but players could just stand on it and it would let them ride it without them having to do any sort of animation. Shoot we used to stack crates on it so it would protect both the driver and whoever got on the cart. Normally holding an rpg, chain gun, or a plasma cannon.
I’ve often wondered just how much work would be needed to allow Multi-player maps to function as FireFight maps. Even stringing them together as a story-less FireFight mini-campaign. The player could set the parameters of course, but once you finish a wave, a round, or a set on the first map a Pelican comes to take you to the next level for the next wave, round, or set, and so on. No story elements really needed. Some of the small maps would be hard to win, but that’s the challenge.
Thinking specifically about Reach Multi-player maps, some have Pelicans and Phantoms accommodated already through Invasion mode, and the Multi-player maps are all or mostly pulled from Campaign, so A.I. pathfinding should be much easier to implement, maybe?
Or a coefficient of squad amount. like x2 will spawn the double of the original squad, imagine fighting 64 ennemis instead of 32 or 24, and x0,5, will spawn the half of the squad, would be cool
•Add Firefight to every game in the collection.
•Add offline bots to Firefight in every game in the collection a lá Black Ops IIII Zombies, Gears of War Judgement Horde mode and Ghost Recon Wildlands Guerrilla.
•More friendly NPCs.
•Friendly NPCs on all maps in Reach.
•‘X enemies remaining’ indicators in ODST
•Forge for Firefight maps across every game with scriptable AI
•Tower Defense elements
And more I will add later.
Regarding random friendly Covenant for allies in FloodFight modes ODST. I realized there may be a vehicle problem to solve the same as having Jorge in Reach Firefight. Most Covenant forces can’t ride vehicles, so they need to move/retreat to survivable situations once the player/s gets in a vehicle.
Maybe this problem is easier to solve than I’m thinking. Grunts, Brutes, and maybe Elites would be fine, potentially, if the player chooses a Wraith, but still. The Halo Reach Anniversary Firefight map has ODST holding a single position rather than following the player around. One simple (too simple?) solution would be once the player enters a vehicle the Covenant allies retreat and hold a position, or basically stop where they are and hold that position until a player exits the vehicle.
Anyway. Interesting to figure out.
I’ve always been interested in Halo+ Tower Defence. Halo Reach had those spider turrets which cut pretty close to tower defence. I was hoping they’d be used more.
Oh, I may as well post another FireFight wish. Of course I’ve posted it before on older lists and topics.
ODST FireFight boss wave has drums/music to help player understand it’s a boss wave. Cool if randomly a boss wave would swap out the drums for Marty’s “Uphill Both Ways” track from ODST campaign.
And, of course, for Halo Reach FireFight the “Uphill Both Ways remix” from the Reach Multi-player trailer would be randomly swapped in for boss waves.
(EDIT: Added the correct name for the Reach trailer.)
