Alert-Carry: The machinima maker's dream

I know the feature known as Alert Carry (Also known as Cease-fire and guns down) has been in Halo and available to all users up to Reach, for offline play.

What I want to know is- will 343 have learned what the machinima makers (or at least the portion of them who don’t have 3 consoles) want: Will we be allowed to use alert-carry over Xbox live?

I understand Bungie was so terrified of the use of it for fear potential exploits, such as a BxR glitch (Or if you’re the conspiracy theorist: they were scared of easy to make machinima), but this is an age where glitches can be found and patched alot more easily.

I know this has been used by Rooster Teeth in their Halo 4 promotional videos, but they did that locally- and thus I know Alert Carry has returned to the local lobbies. What I am asking is if Halo 4 is allowing us to use it over Xbox live (even if it is just custom games/forge)

Agree. It should be doable over xbox live, as it needs to be easier to do for machinimas and would make things much more epic.

Also, it should be done without any bungie-retarditis, so no button combos; Just down on the d-pad would be amazing.

Every button on the controller is already used. Impossible.

I liked how it prevented bad machinimas from looking good… It made them look worse. But it also made good machinimas made online look worse too. I think it’s time this feature came back for online. Surely they can prevent any glitches.

Down on the D-pad isn’t used (on Boxer) as far as I am aware.

I don’t mind the idea of button combos myself.

Accidental Double Post :frowning:

sorry- but bumping this as it is an oft-forgotten issue!

Why should you need to press a button to keep your gun down, I think in everything except matchmaking, when your cursor is on a friendly player, you gun should automatically lower. Makes more sense.

Please do not bump. Thank you.

Frankie said you could lower over Live at RTX I think. It was only a very brief mention so I’m finding it hard to locate.

This is the only reference I can find so far to it: http://gamersnewsnetwork.wordpress.com/2012/07/10/343-and-certain-affinity-talk-halo-4-hands-on-demo/

Found another thread: https://forums.halo.xbox.com/yaf_postst95850_Weapon-Lowering-Over-Live-Confirmed.aspx

it IS back, when its allowed to be used.

Thank you for giving me the info. ^^

Simple halo 2 style would be nice. Hold grenade button with no grenades or down on d pad.

Wait- crud. That info was debatable (ie; Multiplayer not equating to LIVE, could have been local) thing. Crud- I got my hopes up for a half-confirmed issue

Yeah sorry, it seems Live is yet to be confirmed.

A long while ago, months ago, they confirmed that you can lower weapons over xbox live.

can we get a cited source please?
